Humira | Arthritis Information

So I saw RD and he wants me to start Humira. He said it seems like you could do okay if you slowed down but you can't, and it sounds like when you try to do anything, it hurts. Which is about true. I don't hurt at rest although sometimes at the end of the day, but when I walk a ways, carry kids, write more than a paragraph, it hurts. Mobic is muting the pain but doc thinks damage is ongoing.

I don't really want to take it but I am young and this isn't getting better.I was hoping he'd say give Arava a few more months. I will stay on Arava and Plaq too for now.

The bumps in my wrists aren't RA nodules but swollen tendons from RA. And he thought knuckles swollen too, which is new.

Bigger concern now is that endo ordered another thyroid u/s, because nodules are bigger, and while scanning they ended up taking pix of lypmh nodes in my neck, far from thyroid, which was not ordered.

Will wait for those results and TB results and deal with Humira next week.I hope the Humira works for you!  You reallly need a break!

Fingers crossd, KatieG, that all works out for the best!
I took Humira for over 2 years with no side effects and it worked quite well for me.  Eventually it stopped working and I'm now taking Enbrel, which is also working very well.  Good luck!

I hope that you find some relief soon, you really deserve it.  Keep us posted with your results.I hope those test results come back normal for ya and Humira is your miracle drug. I was hesitant to start a biologic also but it has changed my life. I suppose I will always be waiting for the other shoe to drop like a cancer diagnosis or MS. But so far I feel great. So good luck with Humira.Hi Katie,

I was worried about taking a biologic too.  I take enbrel and it really changed my life.  Good luck with Humira.  Hiking_gal
, but how do you do that when exercise seems to make it worse?  I have been referred to a rheumatologist, but don't have money to pay for all that, so I'm self-treating with whatever I see that has worked for someone else (short of Rx drugs).  Vitamins and supplements don't seem to be doing much--I live on Aleve and Tylenol Arthritis meds.  Try to be sensible about it - one Aleve before bedtime seems to make the mornings manageable, then Tylenol during the day if it's really bad.
I need information--from people, not doctors or websites.  Money is most definitely an issue right now (and may be for a very long time, if the economy doesn't turn up and the Lord tarries), so prescription drugs are out.
Help?Cindina,

A couple quick words of advice...then off to work!  Aleve and Tylenol will not stop the progression of joint damage, if it is RA.  You need prescription meds...the generic forms of drugs like methotrexate which is commonly prescribed for RA and can be very effective are not expensive.  Seek out whatever help you can get to make the rheumatologist appointment.

Also you should start a new post and copy your message to it.  A lot of people won't necessarily see your message appended to the end of this post.

Good luck with the Humira. I sure would like something that made my feet feel better. I am doing alot better but there is still room for improvement. If you can avoid damage then go for it. Let us know how it works for you.
