I saw a review of the book, THe How Of Happiness by Sonja Lyubomirsky.  She makes five suggestions:

1.  Avoid overthinking.  (I like this one.)
2.  Practice acts of kindness.
3.  Focus on your relationships.
4.  Pick a goal.
5.  Take care of your body.

Good one!I end up doing the first one trying to accomplish the other four!

Thanks, Jan!
I have decided that listening to or viewing newscasts multiple times a day is very detrimental to my outlook. I am substituting the classical musical channel for the all news channel on the car radio for commutes and watch the news only once in the morning and once at night. It helps a lot - it's nurturing to my soul instead of constantly pulling at my psyche. For me gratitude is what keeps me happy.  I try each day to stop and think about all the blessings I have had in my life, and all the amazing people I know and love.  I know if I die right now as I am typing this, I have had a most incredible life, and I am so grateful for all the love and beauty that comes into it everyday.  And I say my thanks to God over and over for all of this.  I also try to show my gratitude to the people in my life.

And I know a lot of people won't understand this one, but I am also grateful for the hardships I have had in my life, because I do grow and learn from each of them (though sometimes it takes longer to learn!).  I trust that I will make it through - everything will be allright, it just will.  There's no question about that.  It will all work out, and I trust that God and love will see me through.

Attitude of gratitude is always good.

I need to work on #1...........

alot.

thanks, Jan
When my 21 year old daughter was in elem. school, they had a contest to come up with a slogan for attitude. She won a free t-shirt with her slogan: "Attitude Is Everything!" I try to keep an positive attitude as much as possible and it helps with my well being and health.
