my blood panel was great with exception of iron level being 20 and i think norm is 45 but hemoglobin ok. i thought with iron low, hemoglobin also low. Also read thyroid can effect iron. anyone know about this????My Iron is 4!!! very low am on all sorts of meds for it my haemoglobin is low too...Im not sure about the thyroid thoughIdk, Mabus, sorry. You mentioned thyroid - have you had yours tested? Can you ask you RD or their nurse to help you understand the test results? I hope someone else on the board can suggest an answer for you!

Hi I have had extremely low iron and the GP said she needed to check the ferritin stores to make sure I needed the iron transfusion, my ferritin levels were 18, extremely low, so get yours checked as the fatigue is so draining and it causes all sorts of problems elsewhere in the body too.
