OT:A friends thyroid tumor removal | Arthritis Information

A gentleman that is friends with my father recently discovered that he had a large tumor growing near his thyroid and that was pressing on his windpipe and esophagus.  He went to my ENT for a consult prior to having the ENT surgically remove the mass.  He was told that the doc had no other surgeries that day so it should be a routine thing and he could take his time and get everything.

WRONG!!!!!!!

The day of, he removed the tumor but was in such a hurry to get to another surgery that he left the lymphatic tissue behind which is generally a no-no when removing tumors near lymphatic tissue.  Long story short, the guy ended up going to Johns Hopkins to have the rest removed and is now undergoing chemo there as well.

Wow, maybe I should find a new ENT?

I would--wow!I had a tumor on my thyroid and went it to have it removed the Dr. decided to just take the istumus out and leave the lobes and guess what 6 months later another tumor on one of the lobes. It is very agravating to go in thinking you are having something removed and they leave a part and you have to go do it again. Thank the Lord that it was not cancer either time but it is still scarey. Lauraeek...

good to see you bob!
YIKES!!!! I think I would make a change...especially since he never helps you!
