This doc reminds me a lot of my RD.  I really like his blogs.  Anyway, I thought this was a good read

This story also reminds me of my Rd and my Gp. They are both such caring people and take such good care of me.  It took a while to find them . A while back I had to change my Rd ,because of insurance , and the guy was just awful . He was reading something else as I was telling him what was going on before I realised that he was not even listening to me. My husband was there with me and I just looked at him with that knowing look and he smiled at me knowing what I was going to do next.  I just started talking jiberish , which got my husband laughing. The Rd looked up finally and said he was going to start me on some meds ( I was already taking those meds ). So I simply said that ' this was not going to work out' and off we went.

At that time we paid more for going back to my old Rd but it was worth it. The insurance changed back a year later so now it covers the Rd I really like.
Whaaaa I want Dr. Rob!  I lost my lovely pcp about 3 years ago and have been through too many to mention(!) and still I search...   he's great!  lets us know where our RDs and PCP's fall short.....He is the kind of doctor who has "a calling" to be a doctor. They are the best kind.I Liked this also. Thanks for posting it.

I have to tell you about my primary care person.  I have been bouncing around trying to find a good one but so far not too good.  You know how they all want to be computerized?  Well she walks in with her laptop.  Logs onto my page.  Barely looks at me--cause she is busy with the computer.  Asks how I am doing.  Does something on the computer.  Says you need your sugar, kidney & cholestrol checked.  I say==whoo you get the kidney results everytime you are cc'd from my RA dr., everything else I will only do once a year.  She doesn't need it every 6 months.  Then she goes to another screen nd says oh yeah--they look good.  All this time she is concentrating on the computer.   I have voiced my complaints about this computer stuff--many times--saying I could be yellow and they would never notice cause they are too busy entering stuff in the computer.  Now I can't imagine what they are entering cause they are not asking questions.  Maybe she is really writting a novel.  My prediction is the health care systems will fail next cause they suck now! Sorry if there are any health care people readng this but I wold be fired from my job if I performed like that.

I think having a good relationship with your physician is very important.  I don't continue to see docs who won't listen to my concerns or that treat me like a number...
