Hello,

Ran across this web site while looking for foods good for the kidneys, some of them even good for RA, supposedly.  Maybe have a pineapple snack the next time you are in a flare along with your usual doctor's orders, of course.  When my stomach is feeling sick and queezy fruit seems to be the only thing I can still eat.

so anyway, wanted to share my find with you:

take it easy.

Hi SnowOwl,

Yes, I totally understand.  Oddly enough many of these things are on my list.  Only now I have the information behind them.  As for nutritional counseling, they were the ones who gave me the list.  Their main focus was to limit potassium and also stressed how often to eat or not eat the things high in potassium and the list pointed out which foods were low, medium, or high in potassium.  I think that is about it when it comes to nutritional counseling by the hospital.  However, I could probably seek out a nutritionist or holistic healer privately and get more information regarding my condition and foods to eat. and I will probably do that eventually, but trying to wait to see what the test results and the treatment plan are.  I think they said the treatment for "lupus kidney" which is what they suspect, is stronger chemotherapy meds and/or higher doses of prednisone.  Not sure I will go along with that unless it is short-term.

My focus is to eat things that promote kidney health while still watching my potassium intake according to the list they gave me.

You are such a sweetheart.  Thanks for looking out for me.  No worries.:)
