RD visit | Arthritis Information

Well my RD was reasonably nice. That is not part of his every day demeaner. He prescribed a cream for my rash. I was in denile for a while and the rash left what looks like excema. I just think it is scarred from all of the itching. He wants me to get over the allergic reaction before starting Cyclosporine.

In the mean time he wants me to take two 750 mg of Salsalate twice daily. Thats fancy asprin for people that have breathing difficulties with regular asprin and like meds.

Truthfully he wants me to get misserable before he starts me on the Cyclosporine. He isn't being mean. There is a limited amount of medicines available. He is being realistic. At the moment my swelling is really down. I responded well to the Chloriquine Phosphate before becoming allergic to it.

I hate NSAID'S but i am trying. They do terrible things to the gut. To me it just seems the only way to get the desired effect is to take so much that your stomache will blow up or bleed. So we will see how long this can last.

So reality is making me blue. I think I will slip back into denile for a bit. It is a much more pleasant world sometimes.
My grand baby will be here tomorrow. She is eight years old. I am very excited about that. I am thankful that I am well enough to have some fun with her. At least I will not be a pittiful mess while she is here. I just want to hold out for the next three days and i will be happy.
Milly - enjoy your grandbaby - there is nothing like a grandchildren to get your mind off your own troubles.  And it sounds like your RD is putting alot of thought into your condition, big huggles ~~ Cathyenjoy your granddaughter, milly!!  I hope when you do start the med, it works tremendously for you!!Sounds like your RD knows how to treat you as you need to be. Enjoy the time with your granddaughter! Do you have any plans? I can't wait until I have one but I think I'm years away yet.Milly, I have scarring from all the itching too.  Nasty stuff, that rash.  I hope he will find the right remedy for relief for you soon.  It sure is easy to feel blue when you are in pain, then add a nice itchy body rash... well, that little space between denial and reality feels pretty darn good!

What better medicine than a grandbaby's visit!  Just what the doctor ordered!  I just love sitting and talking and drawing silly pictures with my little nieces and nephews!  I could listen to their little prophetic views of the world all day long!  SO CUTE!

Enjoy and feel better soon!
Grandchildren - sounds awesome! You can spoil 'em rotten and send 'em home! My dad still laughs his hind-end off every time he gives the boys some loud obnoxious toy... or when he fills them full of sugar and caffeine and sends them home.  He tells me that's what his dad did to his children (AKA - me!) and he's merely returning the favor.
