Well, Hell... Remicade has pooped out | Arthritis Information

I've been on Remicade for 3 years and 5 months. I was on it every 4 weeks til a year ago, then I stretched it all the way to FIVE weeks.

It worked ok.. but just ok from the beginning. The past 3-4 months we have been talking about maybe its pooping out. I have no real response  and  have had an equal number of  good days and bad days and occasionally more bad than good.

So today I went for my infusion and  my RD and I sat down and talked about all my options.

The MTX is definitely working, and frankly may be the only thing that is working because I feel better the day I take it and a couple days after.

I've been on gabapentin for the neuropathy ( pain, numbness and burning in feet and hands) without a lot of success.

So today I started Lyrica, and am stopping the gabapentin.  Dr thinks I have fibro as well as RA  AND Sjogrens. He checked the trigger points and I have ALL of them.

In a month I will go back, have MRI of hands and feet to see if the Remicade  stopped the erosions  or if it continued. That day we will sit down  see how well the lyrica worked then see  what Biologic to try.. Orencia, Rituxin, or back to Enbrel.. Enbrel was the best  of the biologics for me.  I was heartbroken when it pooped out.

Dammit dammit dammit.

Dammit.
Kathy, I will add my dammit to yours!  I know this is not so great news but the great news is you have options with your choice of drugs.  Maybe a return to the Enbrel?  It seems from what I have read that works sometimes.  If not, there are others.

Sorry about the Fibro.  It often made me feel worse than the RA (once I figured out how to tell the difference between the Fibro flare and the RA flare).

Anywho, try not to get too down, that will only make things feel worse flare wise.  We here on the board are with you, pulling for you, crying with you.  Damnit! Somebody needs to find a solution to these stubborn cases of RA! wanttobeRAfree2009-02-20 19:54:12[QUOTE=wanttobeRAfree] Damnit! Somebody needs to find a solution to these stubborn cases of RA! Let me second that motion.
Sorry about the Remicade not working.  I'm going for my second infusion on tuesday.  This isn't the first time I've tried it though it is at about double the dose I was on before.  So far nada...zip...zero in the way of any kind of benefit.  In fact I feel worse than before the infusion.  Maybe the next one will turn things around.
