Who all has numbness in hands/feet & muscle spasm | Arthritis Information

Boy has this been a rough month.  I was doing fairly well on Humira for a couple of years, and all of the sudden my body decides it will have tingling in my hands and feet, and all over muscle spasms and weakness.

Does anyone else have RA and has these symptoms as well?  I have given half my body in blood the last week or so for testing and was referred to a Neurologist.
Any others experiences and/or advice would be great.  I am going to try the quinine in tonic water each night to see if that might help my muscle spasms.
I am very worried with all of this.  I have been going for doctor's office to hospital, back and forth for too long!
Help me out all, let me know who else has these symptoms regularly and what your diagnosis was and advice.
The people who suffer with this are the ones who truly understand and can offer hope and encouragement!  I need it!

Hopeful, I don't know if I can help or not.  I started Enbrel in '03 and stopped in fall '08 (when I started Humira).  I really have not been on that long, missed 4 doses due to illness, so have only been back on for 4 doses now.  I have been having really bad cramping in my feet... thought that was weird.  I was on MtX, but went off that in Jan. due to rash.  I do have some tingling in my feet, but had that with Enbrel too.

I know other members have had symptoms similar to what you describe but not necessarily on Humira, rather they are on other biologics.

I am sorry you are having such a horrible time and I hope someone else here can offer more support or answers that I have.  I'd be interested to see if the tonic water helps.  Good luck to you and wishes for a smooth path.

I have experienced tingling in my hands from time to time since being on Enbrel for 3 years. No muscle spasms or weakness though.well.. I had all those symptoms BEFORE biologics....  I was tested for MS during the intial DX time for RA because of the tingling and shooting pains.. and numbness/pins and needles.. it was determined I have peripheral neuropathy in addition OR secondary and CAUSED by the RA..

amazing aint it?

I have lesssened discomfort w/ these issues now w/ the enbrel working and using Requip for the RLS that developed (restless leg syndrome) I had tests (some of whose names escape me at this time) one being a nerve conduction study and something else like a ECG?? all were normal

best to  you!!  I hope you find out your cause.

a LOT of tingling. pins and needles, spasms, shooting hot pains yada yada

 tried gabapentin, now on Lyrica.
This walking on fizzy barbwire is getting old.
No tingling in the hands or both feet, just my left foot.  But old lefty feels like there may be a nodule on the underside midway on the arch of my foot.  The muscle weakness though I have.  I don't know if it's from RA or not but I've never had this problem during previous flares.  I had a nerve conduction study and an emg both of which were normal and my cpk levels were also normal so the neurologist says no muscular disease going on but.

Hope we both find out what's going on soon.  If you're like me you're about to lose your mind from thinking of what could be wrong.  I've run everything over in my mind from Lou Gehrigs disease to MS to fibro.  I think it's fibro in my case.

Good luck
Bob

It sounds like it could be Peripheral neuropathy.....

I think over the years my body has done everything wierd that is possible. I have even had foot drop before. But it all comes and goes. i have not had foot drop for five years. Used to come and go all of the time. I have had numbness and tingling before.
Today what the doctor called my good arm. I correct him. I said I do not have a good arm. I just have one that is worse than the other. Anyway I was making brownies for my grandbaby. I was emptying the bowl into the glass pan and boom. I couldn't hang on to the bowl. The brownies came out fine. I deffinately have the weakness today.
I have fibro, RA, Sjorgrens. I have had low potassium and low bloodsugar. It would not surprise me if I had something else also. I used to get very dizzy and even vertigo. But for some reason that has not happened for awhile. It used to be a regular ordeal to grab the wall and just hang on.
I have had MRI's of the brain. Every blood test known to man. Ect. ,ect.
Usually the test show nothing and the problems seem to self resolve. I wish I could be of more help.
All of you are just super for taking the time to answer!  I am definitely having something going on.  I have a good muscle spasm/grabbing about once to twice a day.  The tingling I can handle some, the muscle problems are much more difficult.
I get results of bloodwork only on Tues/Wed of this week.  Hopefully it shows nothing honestly!  My RA specialist insists it has nothing to do with RA, but I am sorry, I do not believe that.
You all have made me feel a bit better!  We all need and have to stick together, as only we know exactly how we feel and what we go through!
Everyone have a great day and enjoy it no matter what!  Muscle spasms!!!! shooting pains (new) ...pins and needles in my hands in the middle of the night (from sleeping on them). I only take plaq and getting ready to take Methotrexate. I hope you get it figured out. Talk to your doctor about these changes. I have been getting some tingling in my left hand and if I make a fist several times it goes away. I get lots of charlie horses in my hips, legs, and feet. Sometimes neck too. I take generic flexeril and it helps alot. I had a nerve cond. study done on right hand a couple years ago when I had tingling there and they said it was from ra. DUH!
