The Truth of Arthritis | Arthritis Information

If you are speaking the truth, then why hasn't the medical community been notified of your findings? For your information, inflammation is painful and a sign that something is not right. And I was wondering, just what do recommend for pain? Don't tell me deep massage because my body hurts too much for that.

Lesle

Mr. Goyal:

Suggest you go back and do some research on basic definitions in pathology. Inflammation and repair are two separate processes. In fact, the repair process doesn't usually begin until 12 or more hours after the inflammation starts. So doesn't it make sense that you would want to do what you could in those first twelve hours [e.g., use of anti-inflammatories] so as not to overtax the repair process? Besides, inflammatory cells may live much longer than the "repair" cells, which are generally programmed for apoptosis [i.e., death].

As I read your original posting the inference is clear: don't worry about inflammation because it's a sign of the body repairing itself. How terribly wrong you are.

I won't even begin to repudiate your statement that "inflammation is an natural process of body through wich our immune system kills the disease." If my immune system is supposed to be killing my disease, why then, after all this inflammation, with or without NSAIDS, do I still have the disease?

I take exception to your statement, "There is no need to have on anti-inflammatory drugs." Do you realize how damaging that statement can be? There are people reading this board that may take this literally and suffer needlessly. To that end, I would encourage anyone to, at the very least, consult with a rheumatologist before deciding whether or not to take anti-inflammatories.

Please cite your sources. Medical sources go a long way towards establishing credibility. Mine are:

Please consider that you are not an authority on this matter. Neither am I, for that matter. But at least I can back up what I write [and do]. I have yet to see you back up your claims.

And last, but not least, on 12-07-2005 at 9:28AM you posted the following on the RA board:  "Do anyone of you know what is inflammation? And why to worry for that?"  I responded "Inflammation is the body's response to injury or irritation or disease, often manifested by pain or swelling or redness or heat. Why you should worry about it? Simple: it's your body telling you something is wrong."

Unless you were putting a teaser out there, it sure looked like you didn't know what the meaning of inflammation was as of a week ago.

Lee123438700.6073611111Way to go Lee. I ahve to agree with you 100%. Mr Goyal, do you know Kevin whats his name? What medical school did you attend Mr. Goyal?

Re http://www.sportsinjurybulletin.com/archive/overuse-injuries .html

Mr. Goyal:

Even though I cited this as a source, in retrospect  I more than likely did so for other information it contained. I believe the sentence you refer to is not true ,as evidenced in other links I provided. As I look at that source now, I am embarrassed to see that I violated my own rule about using sites not affiliated with schools of medicine, etc. As Iook at this site [referenced at the top of this posting], I cannot discern who wrote the article, possibly a layman with interest in sports. Surely not an MD. At least there is no indication of such in the website. The more I see it, the more I believe it is an e-subscription for sportsmen and body-builders. In other words, not medically based. So who knows where their info came from, since they did not cite a reference either.

I removed that link from my earlier post. However, I still stand on all else that I have written. In addition, anyone interested in Alternative Medicine might review the Mayo Clinic site http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/rheumatoid-arthritis/AR0003 4 . Note the first paragraph on the page.

With respect to Harman’s “Free Radical Theory,” apparently reached its peak in the 80’s and 90’s and currently this theory is being re-evaluated and discredited. Check out also the following sites:  http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/3485508.stm  and http://www.arthritis.org/research/ResearchUpdate/03May_June/ DietandRA.asp

It is not known whether antioxidants protect against the development or progression of rheumatoid arthritis.”

It's obvious to me that you're very interested in antioxidants and other alternative medicine. With this in mind, you might consider studying microbiology, anatomy and pathology at an accredited university.

Mr. Goyal:

I haven't read your last post and quite frankly do not plan to.  Here is why:

In my country all drugs undergo rigorous testing to ensure patient safety. The amount of money allocated for research and development of new drugs and treatments is phenomenal in the USA. It stands to reason that with these financial resources available anything showing promise would naturally be under close scrutiny in a laboratory.

Over the years US scientists have looked at eastern medicine and conducted a number of studies in order to evaluate their effectiveness. They did so with an open mind, for the objective is to help the patient, by whatever means. Sadly, few herbs or treatments were found to have any potential. As such, R&D concentrates on what shows the greatest potential.

Human DNA mapping has mega-magnified our understanding of body chemistry, inspiring scientists to research and develop a whole new realm of drugs. The biopharmaceutical industry has grown phenomenally in recent years. These highly competitive companies attract the most brilliant scientists and clinicians. But they are not working on easting medicine. It's not that they don't understand it - they do. It's just that they have already established that eastern medicine, when compared to western medicine, is not as nearly effective. Don’t you think for one moment that if eastern medicine truly worked, better than US traditional medicine, that the drug-makers wouldn’t latch on to it in a second? But they haven’t.

For me this is most important criteria in selecting treatment: The drug or treatment protocol has the best proven track record. My disease does not enjoy the luxury of time to experiment with something that scientists have already deemed largely ineffective.  During that short period of experimentation, in the absence of the drugs known to work, my joints would quickly erode. Why would I want to put my health in jeopardy?

One of the wonderful things about the US is that we believe that every person, regardless of where he is from, is entitled to his belief. You have yours. And I have mine.

Lee

Mr Goyal, is all of your knowledge self taught? Are you prefessionally educated? What institution did you attend? I am curious.

How does your pain theory work in regards to a person with a terminal illness? Is it still the same approach? Again I am curious.

If what you say is true, then why does my physician not instruct me to seek your treatment?

I think you should go to the site www.immunesupport.com and share with them your findings. I think they would be interested.

do not open the website attached to his name a virus is attached!!!!  this is no joke!!!  If you open the site do an immediately anti-virus scan of your computer!!! Again I repeat this is NO JOKE!!!!!

I suggest you stop your silly posts.

I lose interest in your post about two lines down....there far too long!! My eyes hurt just trying to make sense of it all.

Why are you still hanging round here when you are getting so much resistance from this group?

Be Careful

I clicked on his "health Articles" link and got a virus !

Dear Lee and Lesle,

I have been reading your correspondence with Mr. Goyal and frankly I am embarrased by your replies. Our Western medical profession does not know what causes RA or the proper way to treat it. We are now on our third rheumatologist and all 3 have completely different approaches. I am by no means a hollistic advocate by I do advocate looking into and listening to as much information as possible. Acupressure may work for some people. Acupuncture and diet may work for others. As we know about our western treatments, mtx works for some, Enbrel or Motrin for others. Lets not slam people with other opinions. Mr. Goyal knows people who have been helped through his eastern treatment and you know people who have been helped with medications. Just agree to disagree. I am an American as are you. Where we come from, freedom of speech and differing opinions are our way of life. I was also under the impression that this was site to gathar as much info as possible.

If you are a human being living on this planet..You can be pain free also...This is not about how one thing works for one person and doesn't for another....How does your body work???  This is not big complicated science unless you WANT IT TO BE... It is YOUR body and your mind...I have ADRENAL STRESS DISORDER..That CAUSES RA.  RA is a symptom of ADS.  I went to the Dr. got the blood work.  Told them I wanted to know why I am swelling and in pain..I don't just want drugs to mask the symptoms I want to know the CAUSE....

When I found out they thought I had RA. I got on my computer and started looking into it...Also a friend told me about a DR. who she goes to.   I went to see him.. He is called the Miracle Worker by ALL of his patients.  I needed a miracle.  By this time my husband had to dress me, I could barely brush my teeth.  I felt like stakes were being driven into my shoulders..I couldn't sleep..I WAs totally frustrated as I had been a Certified Nurses aide for 8 years.  So, I have seen and taken care of All kinds of people in all kinds of situations....Nothing helped the pain...

I saw the Miracle Worker as I now call him...Half a day of non invasive tests.  Asking all kinds of questions...He gave me a pamphlet on Adrenal Stress Disorder..this you can download off the internet...I take supplements and minerals to support my adrenal glands, Magnesium combo and that is it.....I live Pain Free....

I'm not special..I don't have green blood...I'm made just like you......I just chosen plan A over plan B...The ra Dr. I saw couldn't tell me what causes RA...hummm  Wanted me to take chemo for life...a short painful life from the sounds of the patients in his waiting room...They were All compalining about the pain they were STILL IN....HUMMMM..That was my Top priority Getting Out of Pain.....I went with the .00 dollar plan....Yeah know one is getting rich off of this plan A...No big houses, big car payment,  fancy lifestyle...

Oh, Did I tell you I got 10 mins tops with the young sharp RA DR. in Nashville, Tn.  After Xrays and Blood was drawn...He came in handed me the phamplet on the Chemo drug... told me I had a text book case....of RA..told me I would have to be on chemo the rest of my life...Then out the door he flew...I tried to catch him as I had thought of a question and he had left the office....

I have been in the Medical field for 30 years...I was a Certified Dental Tech./Owner operator of a Dental Lab....for over 20 years....So I understand from bothsides of this game.  Bottom line. You are responsible for taking care of your body to the best of your ability.  This also means finding out for yourself what is going on healthwise and basically taking the responsibility of questioning your health care providers...Believe me they are not mistake proof.. The internet is a great way to find all kinds of info...I have checked out several places that provide all the vit. I take at a very small price...Less than the cost of 1 perscription...Now you should be able to see the light at the end of this tunnel...If not my friend you are blind by choice...and will probaly remain in pain....

Ok what causes an 18 month old to have RA?

Why when I was growing up and only taking baby asprin and multi-vitamins and I still had PAIN? Why do have deformities?

I did use the brain God gave me and I am worster off then I was when I was 18 months old. I did not take any chemo meds until I was 21 years old and only over-the-counter meds like aleve, IBU and tylenol before I was 21. But I still had pain, swelling, stiffness.

So what caused me to have RA?

jooniper38733.5789814815Did you read about Adrenal Stress Disorder????  There is no age attached.. if you were born with a deficiency that explains it.. Aspirin is not a product that will boost your adrenal gland function.. If you have Addisons' Disease your adrenal gland is shut down.  The reference to use the brain God gave you,,,, means you are responsible for how you choose to medicate yourself..So check out ALL your options with an open mind....Hope you find relief from your pain...

you know in a lot of ways medical treatment is a lot like religion, people tend to feel that the things that they have known their whole lives or the things that have in some way changed their lives are the best way. Really though, there are as many approaches to pain managment and medical treatment as there are religious beliefs. I don't think any are "wrong", I don't think that many of them are right for me, but there are usually good attributes that I can take away from each.

(uh not computer viruses though...that is really bizarre)

Indeed.  I really think people should be considerate of other people's feelings and experiences before they go blasting people for their choices.  I know that I am doing everything natural possible under the sun and it is not healing me.
You say you are doing everything you can think of naturally and it is not working. Tell me everything you are doing and I may be able to share with you some things that we are doing that are working. Send me the vitamins/dosage/mg/how many a day. And any thing else you are doing.
