Here's a class photo from the 2008 FSU Med Lab Tech program.  I'm the short dude in the left back row.  I was chubby before, but the prednisone has really put it on in the facial area now.  The worst thing is that I have to be the best man at my friends wedding in just a few weeks and there will be tons of pics then!  I hate it, I hate it, but the guy is my best friend so I'll do it.

Well hello Bob....Im pleased to meet you!  Always good to put a face to a name and I will do that when I sort my photos out.

Yup..Pred can do a number on ya, done it to me but all seems to be 'going down' so to speak, now that Im tapering. It'll happen for you when the other meds get sorted and you can reduce your Pred. Just having patience was my problem.

Hope you are doing better Bob and good luck for your friends wedding, it'll all be fine Im sure.

Lyn You are so young, poor thing.
Are you worried about the weight gain for the wedding?  I don't think friends worry about things like that. It wouldn't bother me. I would just be happy my best friend is there with me to share in the day.
I have a prednisone face right now as well. It's temporary.  doing a slow taper, not by choice of course. just watching my intake. but have you tried the no carbs thing like atkins or southbeach. A friend of mine lost 10 pounds her first week on atkins. I have the southbeach book.  I told one of my old docs about prednisone and its weight gain and he said to cut out potatoes, white rice and pasta, bread.
so he basically put me on a low carb diet.  maybe that is how we are supposed to eat when we are on prednisone, low carb. easier said than done for sure.

Anyways, good luck. take care.

Wow...I'm so blonde it's scary.  For some reason I was thinking you were 76.  You look great!   Don't worry about being puffy, at least you're going to your friends wedding to be there for him.  Have fun!hey bob!  Nice to put a name w/a face!!

you must be a good friend to be asked  to join them in their wedding party!!  I would venture to say that your "weight" makes no matter to the friends either!

Enjoy the party!!  have fun.

Hey Bob,

It is nice to put a name with a face.  You will look great at your friend's wedding.  I'm sure they are happy to have you be a part of their special day.  Enjoy the party!  Hiking_gal
Bob! This is the first time in my history that I actually had a picture in my mind of what someone might look like that I have spoken to but never met and was right! I am always so wrong!
You are built like my middle son- nothing wrong with you at all. Have fun at the wedding-it's about sharing special moments & heart felt feelings with friends. There is no weight attached to those things.
Bob, just had to share this, you look like you could be my nephew!!! he was dx at age 3. he has your same face, body. he was sooo skinny growing up....were you??? he really had hard time with Mtx.

I pray that the Remicade kicks in for you. he too is waiting for first infusion. good luck to you. wish I had a pic too post but lost all pics when computer went down

forget about the pics and have a great timeYou look great!  And at least you don't have to wear a dress that someone else picked out :)You look great! And I second Katie's comment... There's nothing like a lime green halter dress to make you feel oh so "pretty". I sometimes think the bride chooses the most unflattering dress possible for the bridesmaids... So count yourself lucky that you are not a woman. You are going to look amazing in your suit! That would depend.  Mauve and white are going to be the colors.  But at least it's not orange or blue.  (anyone that has seen the movie Dumb & Dumber will know what I mean)
I know a young man that went to his prom in a tux that was black and the collar and his dress shirt were treebark camouflage.  That's WV for you.
Thanks for the compliments everyone.  I just figured I've been hanging out here long enough I should put a face to the name.

Bob

I think your avatar makes people picture you differently, hee hee!

Have a blast at the wedding and celebrate your friends' happiness!

Thanks for the laugh........dumb and dumber and the camouflage.  Wicked funny. Also thought the dumb and dumber comment was funny but serious Bob I dont think you look bad at all...I obviously didnt see you before the pred and you are feeling self consious about the changes but to the  person on the street you look really fine...Go to the wedding and have lots of fun.nice to see ya, Bob! Bob-O! Are we related? You could so fit in with my familia!

Hi Bob, nice to see your smiling face!

Give it a little more time with the meds. Hopefully you find something.

Are you in a great deal of pain? Is there new joint damage, mobility issues? The reason I ask, maybe if you tackle each symptom and get that under control , like for the pain, maybe try a new pain relief medicine, or if it is mobility maybe PT or splints, etc....At least if you could get relief from a few of the multiple symptoms people with RA suffer from it would help you over all.

Of course , you probably have already tried most of these things, I am fairly new DX, and I am just coming to the realization that this disease is multifaceted in symptoms and treatments.... so confusing at times.

Sorry for the ramble, I hope you find relief soon bob.

Have fun at your friends wedding, you will be a handsome Best Man,

Tink

I don't get any pain meds.  The only meds being used to treat my JRA right now are the ones listed in my signature.  Actually those are the only meds I'm on period right now.  No wait I'm lying I use two eyedrops for ocular hypertension but I really don't count those as meds since they aren't absorbed systemically.

Only thing I'm not excited about is wearing the tux.  In case you couldn't tell I'm more of a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy.

Laugh if you want, but growing up in the '80's I actually had a t-shirt like this one when I was in middle school.

Thanks...everyone tells me I clean up pretty nicely.  Deep down, I like to play dress up...but the kid in me loves to look like a slob.
