deformed hand joints | Arthritis Information

I have recently grown an ugly, deformed joint where my right wrist and
thumb meet.    It hurt for a while. Most pain is gone now, but the swelling
remains. Can anyone tell me if they have heard of a way to reduce or
eliminate this kind of deformity? Also, how can I prevent future
deformities like this? I welcome all tips, hearsay, or other info.
I've had good luck with cortiosteroid injections, which hurt like hell but really did an awesome job making my hands loosen up and took away a lot of the swelling.

Definitely see an orthopedic surgeon or a rheumatologist [not any other kind of MD]. Possibly tenosynovitis of one of the tendon sheaths??? If so, corticosteroid injection may bring blessed relief within a couple days. As far as reducing the swelling or current size, you would have to ask doctor about this.

Good luck. Let us know what happens.
