just wanted to report on my results with lyrica for post nerve pain from shingles.

it worked immediately but made me dizzy and expereniced muscle pain all over.
this is the darnest thing since they rx lyrica for FM, anyway got off it after 1 1/2 months of use and the nerve pain came back worst than before for about two weeks.
Anyone else have problems with lyrica????

Sorry that you had problems with Lyrica.  I had dizziness but after about 2 weeks it disappeared.  I didn't have any muscle pain.  When you stopped Lyrica did the muscle pain go away?  Lyrica has worked great for me.  About 75% less nerve pain.  Have you used Neurontin?  Lindy

I've never taken Lyrica and don't personally know anyone who has. I'm sorry to hear that your original problem is worse. I hope you find some relief soon!LinB, muscle pain stopped which is why i wondered about a drug rx for muscle pain that gives you muscle pain.
i have had;
shots to chest
neurontin
pain patches
lyrica
everything otc
and the only thing that works is not to wear shirt LOL
I took it, very briefly, as it made me really loopy! Since I am prone to falls already, I stopped taking it. My balance was affected, I got dizzy and very sleepy with it. I already had severe muscle and nerve pain, so I don't know if it made it any worse or not.
I know it effects a lot of people that way. I just can't stand to feel like I'm not in control of my own body or mind.
I have had terrible neuropathy for the past couple of months. My new rheumy told me that I have fibro on top of RA and switched my antidepressant from Effexor to Cymbalta. Cymbalta is supposed to help with fibro pain. He also prescribed Lyrica. I have taken it previously when I was having back pain last year. At first it made me tired but only a couple of times. I think it works wonderfully on nerve pain. In the past when I was having RA pain and the Lortab was not touching the pain, I would layer on a dose of Lyrica and I would finally get some relief. My previous rheumy did not believe in fibromyalgia, and lumped all of my symptoms under the RA umbrella. Thank goodness my new one is willing to help me get this constant pain under control.

Is it possible that you have fibromyalgia on top of everything you have been through? I hope not, but you might check into it. I hope you find something to help you with your pain. I wonder if you could add a muscle relaxant in like Flexeril? You could test it at bedtime in case it makes you sleepy. I am sorry you are having this pain. I understand how you feel (although you must have more pain than I do considering the shingles). I hope you find relief soon.
