I had an x-ray then went to see the dr and I was amazed at how little cartilage there was on the right side. The left looks fine. I didn't go in to work today at all, I just couldn't face it. Hubby and daughter have grounded me and wrapped me in cotton wool for the next week. The surgeon says that if I have so much as a scratch, he won't operate. I can't risk ANYTHING setting me back. I will have to phone in to work tomorrow and let them know that I won't be back for about 7-8 weeks. I'll really miss it, I work with some great people. I'll miss the extra cash too, but not as much as the company of the people and the work itself. What I won't miss is being there for the accreditation! Never miss the beurocratic, mumbo jumbo!.
I'm so glad I have a specific date and it is only 7 sleeps to go. At least I wont' be trying to think of anything work like so if my brain is wasted on oxycontin and endone. If I sleep all day, I sleep all day, end of story.
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. Sometimes this disease just gets on top of me and I'm really at the end of my rope right now. I still can't believe that this has happened sooo fast. In October the conclusion was minimal damage to the joint. Now, macerated cartlilege is the term being used. My rheumy took me off Arava and MTX last week because of my liver results. She thinks that when we added Oxycontin and Endone, they overloaded my liver. She is hoping that once I've had the surgery and can get rid of all the pain meds, I should be OK again. I can spend the next few days getting everything organised (and getting other people to do things). I did some shopping yesterday and got about 3 weeks worth of meat put up in the freezer. That way the hubby and kids will just have to pick up fresh stuff, bread and milk.
I better finish up for now. I'll keep you up to date over the next few days until I go in to hospital.
Thanks everybody.
I'm so happy for you Pammy! I'll put you in my prayers and say some special ones on the 5th. It's great that it is scheduled so soon so you won't have a lot of time to think about it.
All the best to you!
YAY!!! I'm so glad you have the date!
I kept picturing my dad before his hip surgery when you described your discomfort..
You are going to feel like a million bucks!!! woooo hoooo!!

That is GREAT news Pammy! I hope it helps relieve all your pain you are having that is caused by it.
Please check in with us before your surgery!
Oh Pammy, I am so glad you are getting your surgery! I understand the kind of pain you are in and no one should have to live like that.
You will feel so much better! Just don't expect to feel better the day after surgery
At least that is how it was with my spine. I'm still recovering, in a brace and using a walker, but I feel soooo much better. I never thought I'd feel like this again! Still on Fentanyl Patches and Dilaudid for breakthrough pain, but the meds actually work now. In fact, I've cut the Dilaudid down to almost half of what I used when I came out of the rehab center, on Jan 12.
So hang in there. Help is on the way! I am thrilled that thay are able to do it so soon. There is no reason you should have to suffer any longer.
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I pray for a perfect outcome with your surgery and that you recover very quickly.
Much love, Nini
My gosh that joint damage was FAST! Such a large joint too, it's hard to fathom all that tissue can be wiped out in 4 months. And there you were, pushing yourself to keep up with your usual responsibilities without knowing why the pain was so extreme. Post-op will probably be quite manageable compared to that experience. Good luck and get well soon.
