It seems like in the past when flaring 40mg of prednisone got me up and nearly through the flare pretty quickly.  This time around I had to go as high as 100mg and even that didn't seem to have the "kick" that I got from steroids in the past.

Does anyone here think that it's possible that the RA just becomes resistant to some drugs?  It sure seems like it to me as I'm not responding well to anything much these days.  Humira was helping a little after 5 injections but I had to stop it on the advice of my PCP after coming down with shingles.

I have crappy luck with meds apparently.

Sounds like a possibility to me... Hi Bob, yes RA does become immune to the drugs eventually, I was told when I first had RA that sufferers usually get approx 2 years of each medicine before it stops doing the job, but this was prior to biologics.  Prednisone so far hasn't done that to me but I am sure it will.  Take care, Janie.  I have crappy luck with meds too, I am praying that Rituxan has worked! I was never told this but I suspected it from reading posts here about folks that have great luck in the beginning with meds and then out of nowhere...bang it fades out.
Right now...for the biologics Rituxan and Orencia are all I have left until something new comes out.  I might be able to go back to Humira because I only had 5 injections of it before having to stop taking it.  It did seem to be helping a little bit though.

I hope Rituxan is the magic bullet for you as well.  It certainly has done quite a bit of good for many others here.
Yeah, about the pred. Everything will be swelled on me at 5mg of pred. Then at 10mg it would be good to go. Now... on 10mg or should I say 9mg... it is about the same as when I was on 5mg. I have been on 15mg and it helped to keep the swelling in check, but at 15mg I get kinda loonie LOL!
