fibro questions.... | Arthritis Information

I noticed that a lot of you have fibro along with RA. Do they often coexist? I've been wondering if fibro would explain the feeling of burning I have in my upperbody. My upper arms were so sore yesterday that I actually changed my shirt. Its not a joint pain though, very hard to explain. I guess it could also be one of the many faces of RA.
Also, is fibro in anyway related to migraines? I've had those since I was a child.

Thanks for your info guys... I tried googling it, but the results were too confusing to my addled brain..

leilaWell I have been told that I have fibro for years. Still RA has stiffness. So I do not see how they can tell the difference. Seems to be a high ratio of the two dx's coexisting. My muscles and tendons hurt and get very stiff. I also have Sjorgrens and that can cause neurological problems. I guess I am saying it is normal to be a mess physically and not know the exact reason why.Hi Leila

I have just fibro so I will pass on what I know.  I was told it involves ligaments, muscles and tendons and is diagnosed if you have 11 of a possible 18 trigger points.  On me the worst were the breast bone, two spots on the outside of the hip area, one on the back of the bum and on the knees.  This is on both sides of the body.  There were a few migraines in the beginning but nothing more since.  At the present time the worst pain for me is on the underside of the elbows, the shoulder joints and then it hurts from elbow to shoulder in the muscles.  The breast bone is a bit touchy also.  For the most part the hips have settled down except the left one which was damaged from polymyalgia.  My Dr. has worked very hard to find the right combination for the pain but this last change has caused me to sleep a lot but no pain.  I told her she had to have me ready to go for golf season....hence the name Tee Off.

I hope this has helped you out a bit and if there is anything else just let me know.
Here see if these sites help explain it better for you.

My most effected points are my neck/upper back/shoulder area, along with my collar bones and breast bone areas. I get migraines and headaches when it is bothering those areas.

Also if I use my arms a lot like folding clothes or washing a few bowls or sometimes even typing on the computer my shoulder blades will burn. It kinda feels like a sunburn except it is in my muscle, not my skin.

I am so very sensitive to people touching me and it is really painful. Like if my son sits on my thigh a little hard it feels like he punched me. Or if someone pokes me in my upper arm with their finger it will hurts for hours. If I run into something it will hurt for hours as well. The pain is all in my muscle and my muscle will be sore for days after and most times I bruise.

I have more but, that all seems more like what you were asking about.
