I'm sorry to have to do this, but...

The theme song from the 80's TV show "The Facts of Life" keeps running through my head and it won't quit.  I'm hoping that perhaps someone here can let this "song" take up residence in his/her head for at least a little while so that I can get some reading done tonight without hearing:

"Ya Take The good
ya take the bad
ya take em both and thare ya have
The Facts of life, the facts of life

There's a time ya gotta go and show and grow
And now ya know about the Facts of life
the facts of life

When the world never seeeeeeemmmmmsssss
to be liiiiiivveennnnn up to your Dreeeaammss
and sudenly your findin out that the facts of life are all about YOU!!

(UUUUHOOOOOOOOOHOOOOO)

It Takes alot to get em right wen your learnin the facts of life
(Learnin The Facts of Life)"

you are a mean cruel person, Jas...

I need to sleep now to escape this onslaught of a horrible 70's TV show theme song...

You're an evil woman and I'm going to bedWe didn't watch this show, DH probably wouldn't have liked it, although I do remember the tune for the first part. Come to think of it, I can't really remember much of the popular culture from the 80's, we must have been really busy. I don't remember any songs, didn't we listen to the radio? Better not play 80's Trivial Pursuit. I shouldn't have read this post. That is too funny !! Out of all the songs you probably know and that is the
one that got stuck.
Whe I had surgery a couple of years ago they put a blocker into my arm pit to numb the whole arm and it hurt so much as they were doing it that I tried to think of a song , and the only one that came to mind was Eddie Murphy's ' My girl wants to party all the time '.
When they got done torchering me I told them of the song and of course I got the same reaction as you JasmineRain.
The next week when I went in to get the stitches out one of the Drs came into the waiting room to tell me that the song was in his head all that day and on his way home the song came on the radio . And before that he had not heard it for years .

So it made me happy that they also got that stupid song stuck . They told me that that blocker was not going to hurt.  They lied.                     cause I love ya, SnowOwl

babs102009-03-02 17:35:25The one I find pops into my head and I end up trying to sing in the proper accent is:

Boy the way Glenn Miller playeeed,
Songs that made the hit parade,
Guys like us, we had it made,
Those were the days,

And you knew who you were then,  (Screeched like Edith)
Boys were boys, and men were men,
Mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again,

Didn't need no welfare state,
Everybody pulled his weight,
Those were the days. . .
Welcome back,
Your dreams were your ticket out.
Welcome back,
To that same old place that you laughed about.
Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they're turned around.
Who'd have thought they'd lead ya (Who'd have thought they'd lead ya)
Here where we need ya (Here where we need ya)
Yeah we tease him a lot cause we've hot him on the spot, welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back. The LOVE Boat
Soon we'll be making another run
The LOVE Boat
Promises something for everyone...

Set a course for adventure
Your mind on a new romance...

Take that you evil evil women!! There should be a law against misleading thread titles...my all time favorite:

Making your way in the world today
Takes everything you've got;
Taking a break from all your worries
Sure would help a lot.
Wouldn't you like to get away?

All those night when you've got no lights,
The check is in the mail;
And your little angel
Hung the cat up by it's tail;
And your third fiance didn't show;

Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
You want to be where you can see,
Our troubles are all the same;
You want to be where everybody knows your name.

Sunday, Monday, Happy Days,
Tuesday, Wednesday, Happy Days,
Thursday, Friday, Happy Days,
Saturday, what a day,
Rockin all week with you.

Suddenly I'm up on top of the world,
It should've been somebody else.

Believe it or not,
I'm walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free eee eee.
Flying away on a wing and a prayer.
Who could it be?
Believe it or not it's just me.

Just like the light of a new day,
It hit me from out of the blue.
Breaking me out of the spell I was in,
Making all of my wishes come true ue ue.

Believe it or not,
I'm walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free eee eee.
Flying away on a wing and a prayer.
Who could it be?
Believe it or not it's just me.

This is too good to be true
Look at me, falling for you

Give us any rule, we'll break it
We're gonna make our dreams come true
Doin' it our way

Nothin's gonna turn us back now
Straight ahead and on the track now
We're gonna make our dreams come true
Doin' it our way

There is nothing we won't try
Never heard the word impossible
This time there's no stopping us
We're gonna do it

On your mark, get set, and go now
Got a dream and we just know now
We're gonna make our dream come true
And we'll do it our way, yes our way
Make all our dreams come true
And do it our way, yes our way
Make all our dreams come true

I was just a toddler when this show was on; I remember seeing it on TV when my parents and older siblings were watching it, and I just didn't "get" it. I remember the Hamm's beer jingle... and when something was pleasing in my life, I would say "Mmmm... it doesn't get any better than this."  I can't remember what beer that one was from - Old Milwaukee??
And who can forget all the jingles brought to us by Barry Manilow?

Barry is AWESOME.  One of my all-time faves.
Here's another one that just won't leave my head.  Hopefully if I drop it off here for the night I'll be able to get some sleep. Summer lovin', happened so fast
I met a girl crazy for me
I met a boy, cute as can be

Summer days driftin' away,
To uh-oh those summer nights
Tell me more, tell me more,
Did you get very far?
Tell me more, tell me more,
Like, does he have a car?

She swam by me, she got a cramp
He went by me, got my suit damp
I saved her life, she nearly drowned
He showed off, splashing around
Summer sun, something's begun,
But uh-oh those summer nights

Tell me more, tell me more,
Was it love at first sight?
Tell me more, tell me more,
Did she put up a fight?
Took her bowlin' in the Arcade
We went strollin', drank lemonade
We made out under the dock
we stayed up until ten o'clock

Summer fling don't mean a thing,
But uh-oh those summer nights
Tell me more, tell me more,
But you don't gotta brag
Tell me more, tell me more,
Cause he sounds like a drag

He got friendly, holdin' my hand
Well she got friendly, down in the sand
He was sweet, just turned eighteen
Well she was good, you know what I mean

Summer heat, boy and girl meet,
But uh-oh those summer nights
Tell me more, tell me more,
How much dough did he spend?
Tell me more, tell me more,
Could she get me a friend?

It turned colder, that's where it ends
So I told her we'd still be friends
Then we made our true love vow
Wonder what she's doin' now

Summer dreams ripped at the seams,
But oh, those summer nights

I never could stand that movie, or any of the music from it.  ICK.
.................different countries different T.V. Programmes but it was fun listening to you all having a good time remembering...oh we did have Grease tho'..WAYYYYYYYYYY  too funny!!  thanks.. Jas, honey, you might not want to go around telling people you are a big Manilow fan - it's kinda like wearing a mullet.  It just isn't accepted anymore.

But as long as we're into making confessions, I went to see him in concert in 1981 and he put on a great show!
