Calcium carbonate v. calcium citrate | Arthritis Information

I read that most calcium supplements are calcium carbonate but that calcium citrate is more easily absorbed and therefor better.   I am  currently taking a calcium citrate supplement.  Anyone else aware of this difference.I was told the citrate produces less gas- therefor that is what I take. I hate calcium supplements! I think they make me gain weight. They are too large to swallow. I cut out one of my pills a day because my calcium is always high. Now the doctor says 10 days before my next blood test stop the other one so we can see if thats what is causing my high calcium levels.Citracel has small pills so they are easier to swallow and can even be chewed.  That is what I take.I take Caltrate-HUGEJan -

I was told that anthing ending with -ate is easier absorbption for the body.  Like my potassium is potassium asporotate.

I take the caltrate too w/ Vit D.........

Calcium citrate is much more soluble than calcium carbonate - hence more is absorbed.
