http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/03/05/ep.secrets.doctors/index.htmlYep, you always have to tell the doc EVERYTHING! Hi.. thanks for reminding us all about this good communication with our doctors.

I did a good job of that at yesterday's appt with orthopedic surgeon. Although embarrassed about it, I admitted to him that I haven't been all that diligent about my shoulder exercises because of all that I'm going through (medical-multiple conditions, financial-losing our little house of 20yrs due to severe drop of income). He reassured me I'm doing fine, showing much improvement, but to realize it will likely be another year before totally healed. He released me from his care, unless I notice any shoulder problem. I tend to worry about sounding like a hypochondriac so feel relunctant about bringing up new issues, but I did it, although I didn't talk about how much it adds to my daily hardships. I asked if my painful, stiffness hips have bad bursitis, since they really hurt at lateral thighs, with only bilat groin- aches, not pain... He agreed hip joint trouble usually causes groin -pain, but that he wants me to request my rheumatologist to order xrays of hips just to be sure.

There's an example of a patient who communicated pretty well and a doctor who respectfully listened!   Cathy

Hmmmm.... I really need to print this out for my mom.... (If only she would think it actually might pertain to her ) Waddie, I was thinking I needed to get this article to my Dad! It would probably help if I could actually GET HIM TO THE DOC though!! Is it some macho thing that keeps men from the physician? I had an ex I had to convince to go to the doc. You would think someone who had severe fevers for three days and was peeing orange would go on their own, but nooooo.
