I saw an ad for Johnny Jump-ups.  I guess they bloom in winter.  Pre-seeded planting disks pop into pots to sprout displays of Johnny Jump-ups.  Just place on loosened potting soil and water!  www.harrietcarter.com C9585We have these growing wild in our backyard - they are very pretty and fun. They get mowed down with the grass, but they come right back and bloom again quickly!THey are cute.  Look like pansies!!The sun is warm and the snow is starting to melt ... very nice to think of pansies and johnny-jump-ups!  Spring is coming!   Glad to hear Canada is warming up!!!!!!Yup, we just chopped the remaining ice off the driveway! When I saw your title, I thought you were going to talk about that Johnny Jump thingie that attaches to a door frame and a baby sits in then bounces off little feet! Obviously, I don't know my flowers!

Same here! I will have to look up the flower.
I got some last year from our neighborhood garden club, but I guess they didn't like where I put them because they died!  Usually you can count on anything from the garden club - if it will grow in your neighbor's yard, it will grow in yours.

At the same time, I bought two perrenials - lenten roses and black-eyed Susans.  They have both come back, but I've got to keep the black-eyed Susans protected or else the rabbits will eat them!  I used to have a ton of those, and they ruined them all!  I had to start back new with these from the garden club and I hope I can get them established enough to divide again.

I enjoyed looking at the gardening materials section of the site you linked.  I remember seeing the pre-seeded rolled mats before, unroll them like a sod sleeping bag, water, voila - garden.  Temptingly convenient.

Please let me know if you try one of those!  My girls were begging for that last year, after they saw a commercial on TV, but I was afraid it was one of those things that only looks good on TV!
I wish one of the high tech people could show some Johnny Jump-ups.  They are cute.
