Humera | Arthritis Information

Ok everyone as you know Enbrel didn't get a chance to work for me as my body didn't seem to like it at all. My legs are not as swollen as they were but seems getting rid of that last little bit of water is tough.  Anyways, I'm  getting off track. My real question is has anyone tried or is currently using  Humera?  How long did it take to get approved? Had you already tried and failed with Enbrel? I am curious for a couple of reasons. I was told by RD that Humera is the next step up and she hopeful my approval would come as quickly as it had for Enbrel (it hasn't)  but that she wouldn't start me until all swelling was completely gone.  She says that is is still TNF type of drug and may cause swelling too.  Can anyone share your experienses with Humera. Thanks in advance to everyone. I take Humira and I was approved right away. My doctor prescribed it and the specialty phamacy called me that afternoon to see where I wanted it delievered. I've never had a problem getting anything approved so I guess it depends on your insurance compay. I have BCBS.

Humira has been really great for me. I took it for two years and then had to be taken off of it for some unrelated problemd and then re-started it a year later. I've been on it for about a year this time and have no problems and have even done well with it this time without the MTX. I do think I'm going to need to re-start MTX soon though. I was taken off of it due to elevated liver panels but they have gone back to normal so I can restart it at any time but have wanted to hold off because I didn't think it was nessesary.

I hope you're approved and that it works well for you. Humira is the first and only biologic I've been on.
[QUOTE=Lovie]I take Humira and I was approved right away. My doctor prescribed it and the specialty phamacy called me that afternoon to see where I wanted it delievered. I've never had a problem getting anything approved so I guess it depends on your insurance compay. I have BCBS. I'm on Humira (when I don't have a sinus infection).  I used to be on Embrel, which I failed too.  The Humira works well but I take mtx also.  My BCBS insurance okayed it fast, probably due to the fact that I've failed all the other meds I've been on.  The Humira didn't take long to start working.  Probably a couple weeks.
Good luck and I hope it works well and fast for you!I didn't actually fail Enbrel, I developed a lupus-like rash after taking it for over a year so I had to quit it. I tried Humira but it totally jacked up my stomach and I had cysts (yuck!) I have strange reactions to meds though. We've got BCBS coverage and I think it took a week to get approved? I'm not sure because the first shot was free through the office. I hope Humira works for you though! Lots of gentle hugs and the best of luck to ya! Katie; I can't really remember how long it took in the beginning to start working. It was pretty quick though. I can tell a difference over night now though. I'll start dragging a couple days before my injection on Saturday night. Sunday; I'm really to go. Makes a big difference for me over night. Wanted to pop in and say that I restarted MXT and Humira 3 days ago and all pain and inflammation has cleared.  I react very quickly to my meds.   Hopefullyl I won't have to stop them again.  Lindy  Yes, I am still waiting for prior auth to come in. I am growing impatient and anxious at the same time.  I am calling the RD today to see what the status is.
