prednisone and belly bloat | Arthritis Information

I don't get on a scale because I see no reason to make myself feel bad over a number that I can't control right now.
So tell me- when you are on prednisone does your belly bloat up really big so it looks like your pregnant or did I gain a big amount of weight in my belly.
It seems to be it's biggest in the evening. I catch sight of myself in the mirror when changing into my PJ's and I'm like OMG!!!!
Wannabe... yes, you can blame your bigger belly on the Prednisone. Bloating is a side effect and changes in body fat, including at waist, are common. I can't remember if I had that but I do remember having moon face because photos of that time in my life show a very different looking me. So, it's not your fault if your tummy is bigger.... well, unless you are younger than me and didn't use protection!

I definitely had the belly bloat with pred. so badly that my rheumy and I decided never again. As soon as I stopped it, I lost like 80 lbs. and I had only gained like 30-40 on it. Once off it, I lost my appetite and it never came back.My face gets swollen.

oddly enough I havent had the insatiable hunger this time.. although I was really thinking a LOT about food the other night, but I just didnt go downstairs and eat anything.. yesterday I did have a bowl of cereal for breakfast and not a lot else all day.

I get the salt, sugar, salt, sugar cravings when I'm on anything higher than 5 mgs. a day. Popcorn, candy, prezels, icecream.... At least I try to be good in that I eat reduced fat popocorn, sugar free candy and low fat ice cream in small quantities...but I have to go to bed at night to stop.

But the bloat-it's like my belly fills up with air like a beach ball!
