celebrex warning | Arthritis Information

hi everyone.  wanted to relay my recent experience with celebrex...in hopes that you can avoid the same.

been taking celebrex for along time now...3 to 4 years.  about three years ago i began to have intermittent bad guts. like, straight to the bathroom after eating, accompanied by nausea.  after a year of this i went to my rd to see if it might be drug related. he thought not. went through some very expensive testing with a gastro.  found some inflammed tissue in the stomach but no diagnosis.  this last year the problem had escalated to being a way of life. everyday feeling really bad nausea, the big D everytime i eat, fatigue. i've lost almost 20 pounds this last 6 months.

went to my md two weeks ago. he suggested cymbalta for depression. no thanks. went to my rd again... he didnt have any suggestions for the bad guts but took me off celebrex and switched me to mobic because my joints are out of control. GUESS WHAT?? NO MORE BAD GUTS!!  i am not kidding. i can hardly believe it. its only been two weeks but i havent felt this good in a long time. no runs to the bathroom. i've been adding back some foods i had been avoiding like the plaque and no problem. i really can't believe it.

if your nsaid lists this side effect and you are experiencing this please please please be agressive with your docs. at least try switching nsaid to see if that might be it.

dang its been a long haul - mobic doesn't seem to be helping the inflammation, but me and my booty are very happy!!

I also had a very bad reaction to Celebrex about 3 years ago. I had been on it intermittantly with no problems for about 6 months. I had a bad flare and took one in the evening before  going to bed. About an hour later I woke up feeling awful..ended up in anaphylactic shock with a 911 call and ambulance ride to the hospital. Had to be on heavy doses of benedyl and prednisone once I got home. It took about 2 weeks before I was fully recovered!
