Anyone get diagnosed with a kidney disease and arthritis within 18 months or a 1 year from each other? If so, what kidney disease did you get diagnosed with? and anything else you'd like to share!

UTI and kidney infection this summer a week in hospital pumped with iv antibodics.  i had a hard time getting well.  it took all summer.   still not sure my strength has ever returned.  my dh would say no it has not returned.   then i fell and broke my foot while entertaining company this summer.  then the 1st of dec i got shinlges also while company was visiting.   take lots of naps and exercise when you feel like it.  and stay away from those you may tell off when you feel bad.  that is my advice and i am sticking to it. ;-)my goodness you have alot of questions  LOL

I had a UTI from hell in 2001....... wicked.. took three rounds of Antibiotics to rectify.... bad stuff....    DX 'd officially as an adult in 2007.

I also was DX'd w/ benign complex cysts on my kidneys as a result of that infection from hell... had a cat scan.. all kinds of tests......  also found a benign adenoma on my adrenals.. I have a scan yearly ..... nothing's changed...
I was thinking about how RA is a systemic disease. But, remember, RA isn't always the culprit for our other illnesses and pains. Many of us have multiple disorders. I also have Ulcerative Colitis and my daughter has Lupus and also a separate disease called Polycystic Kidney Disease. It can happen. However, RA can contribute to kidney involvement, or at least the meds can.
I found this... I only copied a portion.

 Renal disease.

The main problems seen with the kidney are more related to therapy, rather than the arthritis. Antiinflammatories and analgesics can cause several types of nephritis- especially interstitial nephritis.
Renal toxicity can be seen especially with Gold, Penicillamine, cyclosporine, and occasionally Sulphasalazine and methotrexate.
Monitoring of the urine for blood and protein is necessary as a routine for patients on these medications.
