Has anyone heard from Pammy after her surgery.  She was going in for her operation on the 5th I believe, and I haven't heard anything yet - I sure hope she is doing okay!

Karen

Hi Karen
I went to Rehab for 10 days after the op and just got home today.
Everything is sooo much better!
The 10 days of physio twice a day was really worth it.  I am feeling pretty much no pain!
I am on two crutches til the 16th of April when I see the surgeon then I hope to get clearance to drive and go back to work.
He said about 1/3 of the joint was bare....osteo   not much RA at all.
I got a ceramic replacement.
It was pretty painful for the first few days but once I started the physio it got a lot better really quicky.
I had 35 staples in my incision.
I'm so glad to be home now withmy own things
Will try to catch up properly soon.
Pam
What wonderful news Pam!  I am so glad things went well and you are back home where you can relax and recover.  There's nothing like sleeping in your own bed.

Take it easy, and follow all the rules - don't try to be a superstar - yet!
Pammy, I am so glad all went so well for you.  Hillhoney has great advice, no superstar stuff, though maybe you can look forward to dancing in the near future!     Hi there Pammy, so glad you're home and all is going so well.  Keep us posted and behave
 yourself.  Lindy

wanttobeRAfree2009-03-20 06:23:30Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers.  I actually slept in my own bed last night!!!!!

It is so good to be home.  I missed my kitties (kids and hubby too).  I missed my Foxtel.  I missed hot tea and hot toast.

Never having been to Rehab before (always just went home after surgery) I can't tell you how glad I was to have insisted on going.  My surgeon just wanted to send me home on day 5 (because I'm relatively young and fit).  I put my foot down and told him I wanted to go to Rehab because the Rehab lady said it was my choice.  He asked me how long the fear of going home was going to last.  I was no more ready to come home than fly to the moon.  After 10 days of physio twice a day, Occupational Therapy, Hydrotherapy and just rest and pain control, I am more than ready to face the world.  I came so far and I just know I would not be anywhere near where I am today had I just come home.

Fortunatley my other joints are all behaving themselves.  After 4 surgeries in 14 months I am well and truly over it.  I am hoping for a nice long break from surgery, getting back to work and enjoying life in general.  I just need a break from hospitals, so does my family.

I will be a good girl and not overdo things.  Thanks everyone again.
