Is stiffness the sign of internal inflammation? I don't have any visible swelling in my knees and only minimal in my wrists/hands but for the past 4 days I'm noticing a lot of stiffness I am not used to having.Good question. I hope someone smart comes and answers it soon. (Obviously that's not me)...

I typed it into my browser when I got no answers and yes- it is. Just great another sign this MTX is not working out anymore.

Hi WTB,

It is my understanding that it is a result of inflammation of the synovium (joint lining).  Hope you feel better soon, HG
Ugh..I guess I"m in the same boat wtbraf...Mtx is not working

Joint stiffness is basically caused due to the inflammation in the lining of the joint called as Synovium. Synovium is the connective tissue lining of the capsular ligament of the synovial joint. It is richly supplied by nerves, blood vessels and lymph. Its main function is to reduce the fiction in the joints and to lubricate them for proper functioning of the joints. Any form abnormality in the synovial lining results in the joint stiffness.

Thanks! I had always thought that if you didn't see swelling you didn't have inflammation- I was wrong.Yep, I wish I did not see swelling with my inflammation LMAO! I am soo full of inflammation it just oozes out of just about every joint

I was just thinking this morning I needed to soak in a tub of WD-40 & anbesol  Hysterical - I read the wd40 and ambesol tub soak and thought immediately "Ahhhhhhhh. That would be nice." Shows how nuts feeling so crappy can make us!!

Ambesol is for oral sores -- it numbs them, like lidocaine.

Cheers. We should all get together and have wd40 soaks (who needs a book club?). We could serve shamrock shakes instead of alcohol ( thanks to the mtx), and big plates of chocolate cookies ( thanks to the pred). Do we know how to party or what!!
