Now it wants my FEET! | Arthritis Information

I've always felt so bad for all of you that have RA in your feet and ankles. I said to myself "I don't know how they can bear the pain!" I've got it in my hands, wrists, shoulders, hips, and knees...but those little joints in the feet take so much abuse...
Well Guess What? Over the weekend it seems to have taken up residence in the balls of my feet! Weren't the other joints enough? Why does it have to be so freakin' greedy? Maybe I'm losing my marbles, but I'm starting to feel like I'm the victim of an invasion. I'm afraid to be thankful for any pain-free joints lest 'It' read my mind and go take up residence in those joints too.
I had to stop mtx for a week due to a kidney infection. Now I'm back on for 2 weeks but I don't seem to be doing as well as I was before. I see my RD in April so I sure hope this turns around before then. Since I'm on plaq and the max dose of mtx, he'll be wanting to put me on a biologic. I was so hoping to not have to go there.

Hope the rest of you are having a better Monday!I have the same problem since I had to go off my MTX for a few weeks. It just isn't working like it used to and it's even been increased to the max oral dose.

Hope yours kicks back in and hope the RA moves back out of your feet!

I hate when it is in my feet! Bad enough walking around with knees involved, but feet too, might as well be wheeled around.

Hope the MTX kicks in for you soon.

Feel better soon!
Your headline cracked me up -- that's exactly the feeling! "It" has a mind of its own and gets what it wants, doesn't it!! Good luck...It sure feels like it has a mind of it's own. Its so unpredictable, sometimes it feels like psychological warfare. You can wake up in the morning and think " oh I feel pretty good!" and since everyone knows that RA is characterized by MORNING pain and stiffness, you believe that you are going to have a pretty good day. Hurray! Then, maybe 2 hours later, or even 10 minutes later, it's all you can do to locate a vicodin and crawl to the couch. How can anyone be expected to live with so much randomness? RA messes with your head. ra sure has a mind of it's own. I hope "IT" leaves your feet and the rest of you alone soon. ((((((((((((((l))))))))))))))))))))
see short term memory, can't remember how to spell your name, gawd  lol and yikes

I second and feel everything you said!!
Today,, I thought ok, one day w/o some vicodin and see if i can get something done..
napped all day... woke up at 6:30 pm, major pain.. ra flu, OW, etc..
Vicodin time and coke a cola!!!

It does have this total own frame of mind... how can i explain to people, that i can't get to a simple drs appt, 5 mins away.. (no car).. bc i don't know if I can make it to the bust..
bus stop.. like 2 blocks... and IF i could make it home..
and yes, my feet, the balls , the middle, weird, the pain..
I went to pick up my braces at the medical store, they have special shoes.. but ONly for diabetics!!! arghh
Oh ?, do you go barefoot, most of the time?
I do.. feet need to be free!! lol
anyway, i'm w/ ya in the same boat, so you're not alone, that may or may not be comforting..
Hi Leila,   I don't think being off MTX for a week is harmful. My Rdr wants me to do that if I get a bad headcold because the mtx can interfere with recovery.  But I do wonder if it has a delay in getting effective again.

I have feet problems too and use a cane and scooter for now, or at least I'm supposed to. I find I don't do it at the grocery store since I'm usually just there for the pharmacy and a few items and I can lean on the cart and hobble slowly. It's a hassle to have to keep getting off the scooter to reach each item. And then at home, I don't want to use the cane. Yet, that's what my dr figured out is the reason I've had a few recent falling spells. When she had me stand on one foot, then the other... I wobbled. Apparently I unconsciously turn my foot to the side to avoid the pain and am then unstable. So, don't do what I have been doing or you might fall too!

I hope your mtx kicks back in and helps you out soon,
CathyMarie
