Has anyone ever gone to Mayo Clinic? I have an appointment there next week. I think maybe I will get better care then what I have gotten in the past.

My old doc did call me in some Cyclosporine. I will start on that. But who knows I could be allergic. I hope not.
They asked if I was in a wheel chair? I said well no, But I could be by next week. My knees, hips, shoulder, elbow are actually hurting more than my feet. Thats not a good thing. I guess my old doc wants more bloodwork done.
Is an anti-ccp and a ccp the same test? I am positive for both. I looked it up and they seem to be the same. I wonder why they would have ordered a test I already tested positive for?
oh milly....... good luck!! keep us posted.Best of luck at your appointment! My lower back is grinding like fingernails on a chalkboard. I have been told in the past that is the ligaments making that noise. I really get creeped out by it. It tends to hurt also.
I am sort of excited about my appointment. Except they want all of my records. That is not always as easy as it sounds. Scince it is for Mayo maybe people will be nicer about it. I doubt it really. LOL
Milly, I hope this works out for you.  I am excited for you too.  I look forward to hearing what they have to say.  Good luck with the Cyclosporine! Great news Milly.  I hope you're apointment goes well.  I'm excited for you :)

U.S. News analyzed data on 5,453 medical centers to produce this year's 16 specialty rankings. Only 170 hospitals were ranked in one or more specialties and, of those, just 19 were of Honor Roll caliber. To be in this elite group, which rewards breadth of excellence, a hospital had to achieve high scores in six or more specialties. The order is based on points—a hospital earned 2 points for ranking at or close to the top in a specialty, 1 point if ranked slightly lower.

Hey,

University of Michigan is number 13, up one from last year, I think. You are very welcome GG. I posted it hoping that it would bring some comfort to Milly seeing her hospital as the #2 ranked "ELITE" hospital. I believe that ranking means a lot. I believe that the better ranking the better service to patient care. I like having all doctors associated with one hospital. If I get sick, my "sick" doctors actually have face to face conversations with my rheumys. If I go into the hospital, all of my doctors visit and explain that they are in contact with each other doctors. How cool is that? One click on the computer along with my last four, and all of my patient information is available. How cool and safe and quick is that? And most of my doctors actually know each other, how cool is that?

levlarry2009-03-17 18:30:57I have to agree with Lev.  I went to The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania four years ago for a very complex gastro surgery and they did an excellent job.  All the doctors and nurses there were top notch and they coordinated efforts with each other.  I was living there at the time and I saw the endocrinologists and gastro docs there. Good luck Millie and feel better soon.  Hiking_galThanks Lev I do find great comfort in knowing that they are number two. I feel that I deserve the best care that I can find. Actually it was just a fluke I am certain but the Mayo clinic lab was the first time my blood ever tested positive for RA . I have never been there before but my blood has. The first time I was sent to an RD I was 23. I will soon be 46. So it has been a long time of little to no answers. Add in my allergic condition and I need all of the help I can get. Also my Sjorgrens is about as bad as it can get. I do hope the Cyclosporine helps with the Sjorgrens. It is the same medicine as in Restasis. Of course I will be taking it orally instead of in eye drop form. The pharmacy is still filling it. I have a couple of days of ABX left so I will finish that first. I would say my time at the Mayo when I first got sick was not very impressive. Met lots of Canadiens ( HHMMM I wonder why ) and also some caring people ,but it reminded me of a assembly line for sick people. I wouild NOT go back thereexcellent List, LevLarry!!  thanks

I googled on the site where the list originated and saw that Mayo is #3 in rheumatology!!  YOu are going to do great!!!

(I was glad to see that CHOP is the top pediatric hospital in the country...where my little grandson goes now!)
