Hey, what's everyone up to?
I guess I must have been in a cooking mood because I got up- made a batch of brownies, macaroni salad and potato salad. We're having ribs on the grill tonight so I thought they would go good. I think I'm going to look up a corn fritter recipe too. My son is not into salads.
Then we went to the bank to open my husband's 2008 IRA and talked about refinancing our mortgage. We're paying 7.125 now so it would be really worthwhile. We had lunch out at Friday's- we had a coupon buy one entree get one.
Now I think I will veg out a little in the chair with the paper.
If I revive I would like change my wreaths from fall to spring and whatever else needs a season change.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

sounds devine.....

I am switching my bedroom from winter to spring..... new coverlet and such.... love it!!
I come on here when I need to break.....  spring cleaning is rough stuff!!

I just woke up an hour or so ago. I know that sounds lazy but man I just couldn't drag myself out of bed to save my soul. So now I am  just returning from going out to Petsmart to get the dogs some food and came back home and I swear I could just hop right back into bed.  I refuse to give in through. I think I'll hang around the board awhile and then I'll head out to the kitchen so see what I can cook up. Speaking of cooking the book distributor was out at the schools this week and I bought yet another cookbook. I think this makes cookbook number 60 or something like that, anyway I also got a recipe box, like the kind my mom used to have, it's full of 3x5 card  recipes using campbell's soups. Hmm, maybe I'll try making something from there.
Have a great weekend everyone.

edited for spelling goofs
mom2threeinaz2009-03-28 14:08:19Its cool here too, Snow.  No winter storm, but frost in the hill country tonight.

Me too, Babs, spring clean. break, then putter some more.  I have had the windows open so much that a dust storm has taken up residence.  Honestly, I think I could garden indoors this year.

We got much needed rain this last week (and hail too, though we really didn't need that!) and it sure helped to settle down the pollen.  M23, I would love a recipe box like that. Can you tell me what it is called so that I could look for it online?

Right now I'm having my mtx hangover and feeling sorry for myself. I had a synvisc injection in my knee on Friday. I'll have to go back the next 2 Fridays for more injections. I'm hoping the synvisc is going to help a lot because the cortisone injections are not helping as much as they used to.
I think the mtx is helping, but I don't think it's helping enough. Know what I mean? Should I just be thankful for the relief I'm getting? I'm on the max dose so my next step is humira or enbrel. I don't really want to go to the next step. I'm just not sure how close to 'normal' I'm going to get and I don't want to pour more meds into my body if it's not going to make a big difference.
My husband is out of the country for two weeks. I think I'm just feeling sorry for myself. Two years ago I might have tried to go with him. Now I know I'd never survive the 13 hour plane ride. This disease is depressing
Texas? waddie?  I may be  moving that way at year's end.   We'll be near Dallas...... are you near there? You can PM if you prefer.OMG I ate so much yesterday I am really feeling mad at myself! However I have to share this Corn Fritter recipe with you all because it is sooooo good and so easy.
1 1 lb. can creamed corn
1 cup bisquick
2 TBS. sugar
1 egg.

Mix together and drop by TBS. into 1/4 each hot oil.
Fry til you see bubbles and the top looks somewhat firm.
Turn and fry to your desired crispness.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar and drizzle with maple syrup if desired.

It made 24 and the 3 of us ate 20........

I'm doing the final packing and some cleaning before we head the RV north.  It will take 4 days of travel before we're in the states.  I'm also doing the last minute gardening and saying goodbys.  I'm not looking forward to 4 full days of driving the Mexican roads, usually stressful but DH thrives on it.

Snow, am glad that you survived the storms.  We'll be in the southwest and Texas for several months so hopefully we'll have decent weather.

Babs, DH and I are going to Texas and will probably look for a place while there.  Eventually, we'll settle down and we thought Texas might be a fit as far as taxes, etc.

Leila, I love Synvisc.  It's helped me prolong having a knee replacement.  I'll be getting my knee injected in a few weeks.  They've just released a new product that's a one time only injection.  I forget the name, sorry.

WTBF, cookbooks, one of my favorite things in the world.  I read them like novels and I also collect recipes.  DH says I can find any recipe I want off the net but it's not the same.  Nothing feels like a book in your hands.

Gotto go, need to keep working so we can hit the road at 8 tomorrow morning.  I probably won't be posting after today and will be offline for 4 days or so.  Lindy
LinB Safe journey to you..   Vaya Con Dios.
I would love to  hear what it is about the roads in Mexico that your DH thrives on!!  LOL
and Yes, I have also thought that if we like TX it would be a good place.. except it's so far from my kids and grandkids.....

Babs, DH thrives on the stress of driving the Mexican roads.  The local drivers are very creative when it comes to driving; once, we were double passed on a 2 lane, twisty road to Puerta Vallerta.  Several times when we've stopped for a red light impatient drivers behind us pull to the right, turn off their headlights and drive down the side of the road, cross over in front  and run the light.  It's an experience that defies logic.  They also drive very fast, pass on hills and curves, use their horns at every opportunity all with big smiles on their faces.  One learns to drive with eyes in front, on the sides and in back of your head.  Only in Yuma (when all the snowbirds are there) and Mexico have I seen these driving antics.

We'll be looking in SW Texas, not far from San Antonio.  Like you, it's too far from my DS and DIL.  Who knows, we may never settle down.

LinB2009-03-29 15:07:57Ugh - what a weekend. I have a couple of family members (not immediate family) who are ill, we had an 8-hour power outage today due to the ice/snow storm that blew through Chicagoland last night/this morning, and campaign season is in full swing here in Illinois.  I can't wait until Election Day! JR- I was wondering where you were! Seems like you were absent for awhile. I had the same kind of Sunday- illness but WITH immediate family...

Jas, Sure hope you're enjoying the SAHM segment of your life.  Are you doing anything special yet or just trying to catch up?  That's what I did for the first month after I retired.  Enjoy.  Lindy

Yea, I've been offline for a few days!  I was planning on just kicking back today, watching TV, surfing the net, and napping... but then BOOM! 5:30AM the neighbor's tree snapped from the weight of the ice and snow.  A few minutes later, all the houses on our side of the street went dark, though it was completely unrelated to the neighbor's tree (which luckily did not hit anything).  At one point there were almost 50,000 without power in the Chicago area.  All I can say is - thank God for those hardy souls at ComEd who busted their behinds on a miserable Sunday to restore power!  They were hard at work before the sun was. Just trying to catch up this past week!  I'll get to relax once the election is over.
