need help for my son | Arthritis Information

I am new to the site. I was trying to search for help for my son. To make my story quick, 4 years ago he was diagnosed with systemic JRA ( 3 + weeks at Duke Hospital ). He was bad for a year and got better. Last year, the trouble started. So, back to Duke and mri's and blood tests no longer show a problem. Exams do not show any problem. But, he has severe thigh, leg and shoulder pain. His pediatricion who has been a life saver no longer as any answers. Neither does his Rheumy. I suggested trying UNC ( we live in Cary ) and my wife says that's like going to Duke.

Yesterday, there was a weird occurance. All of a sudden he felt great. Then ten minutes later, he was down to his knees in severe pain. Today, he is back in pain and stiffness in his legs.

Any suggestions wd be appreciated.
It sounds like if your pediatrician and rheum have no answers, you do need to find another dr. to help your son.  Do they think nothing is wrong, or are they saying something is wrong but they don't know what it is?  It seems like they should be able to at least give you some direction on how to proceed.

I think it is good that your son got better for awhile, and hope you find someone to help again. Is he on any meds now?  Do you think they need to be changed, or if he isn't on any, would going back to what worked before be helpful?
Thanks, Suzanne. He was a pre-boligic baby - given steroids 4 years ago. No meds now, I am afraid they are coming tomm. The MRI did show fluid in the SI joint. Anyone have experience with this area on a JRA kid?Well, we receive a diagnosis of" conversion disorder ". Huh? Anyone ever hear of this? His
labs, exam and mri were normal. This diagnosis has really taken us off guard.
