I just saw that the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C. began yesterday with peak blooming period from March 28 until April 11.  I have never seen it but it sounds great.  www.nationalcherryblossomfestival.org I want a flowering tree in my yard and I think I'd like a cherry. Here's a dumb question I'm sure....but do these type of trees make fruit? I don't want the hassel of cleaning up cherrys everywhere. I grew up in Arlington and went to the festival every year.  The tidal basin is beautiful.Lovie-

I don't know if they make cherries.  Would have to research.  They proabably do.
I've been to the Cherry Blossom Festival innumerable times... My Gram loved going so we would trek to DC yearly....

It's gorgeous.....

I have a cherry tree in my front yard.... yes, there are fruit.. yes, it attracts bees.. yes, it can be messy but mine is in the yard, not where people have to walk so that's a saving grace.
hummm....not sure I want that after all. I'll have to think about this.
