DID YOU GET PMR FOLLOWING A PERSONAL TRAUMA ...??? | Arthritis Information

I was 100% healthy until a workplace injury where I tore my shoulder muscles when transferring a very heavy lady via a lifting/hoist machine in a nursing home.... 6 weeks later I had all the symptons of PMR and I attribute it to  a trigger to the central nervous system.

I have read of others diagnosed with PMR who have had a shock via (1)an electric shock...(2)a traumatic fall....and (3)an injury in a car accident. Have any others had a similar experience? I would be so very interested....as the docs say 'it is a possibility' but as it can only be diagnosed re a blood test they are not really sure. I am convinced 100% that it is triggered by an "injury"...! What do you think?
I got it after a knee operation.yes, yes.  i tore a back muscle while lifting and running a big bale of barb wire with son. i marked it on calendar and then one night , a month later, i woke up with this stuff pmr.  since i had marked these events, i asked the dr. about it, but he really didn't know and said he didn't think so. but like you i have been 100% healthy and very outdoor farm healthy until my back muscle was badly pulled.  http://www.quantisurve.com/cgi-bin/pmr.asp

Yes, I got it after an accident at work where I tore my shoulder, surgery on C5 and C6 in my neck and RT knee surgery and last cut the bicept tenton.  Too much stress on the body.  That was in 1997.  I was put on pred in 2007 for 6 months and went on the anti inflamatory diet that changed everything.  I still am stiff and have to slow down, but better then I was.
