Hey There, I hope I`m in the right place, been on methotexate (inj) for about a year and for the past week my teeth and gums have been hurting I looked in my mouth and my gums are really pale almost white . Gonna call the dentist but I scared yo hear what it is. Any thoughts ?     ScooboHi scobo21/2, it is almost impossible, at least for many of us, to make such guesses. I applaud your decision to have a dental evaluation for definite treatment.

Are you taking folic acid to offset the effects of MTX? It might not be amiss to notify your rheumatologist as well, he/she might want to order some lab work.

Best wishes, Shug
Hi there. Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your mouth. That sucks, so to speak.
Definitely get checked out by your dentist. The problem could have a very simple fix.
Good luck!Sorry you had to find us, but welcome aboard.  Definitely talk to your rheumy and dentist about the gum/teeth problems.  Hi there, I had sore teeth, gums and jaw last year and it was related to severe sinus problems. I had the sinus' operated on last June and its been much better since... unless I've managed to get a cold. Fingers crossed its a dental problem. scoobo,

best to go to the dentist.  in fact we RAers should try and see a dentist twice a yr, for checkups.  RA can have other affects on us besides our joints.

there is a condition called lichen planus, its an autoimmune condition that can affect one's mouth, and it appears whitish, but it can subside

i know its easier said than done, but try not to worry, once you get an explanation or diagnosis, you can then start to treat it

are you also taking folic acid?

well take care, and good luck

hi scoobo.....

Welcome..... it's a good place to land when you need the soft landing of understanding and information..

I hope you find this is merely a dental issue what is simply cared for.

Hi Scoob, Your doing the right thing by having things checked out and hope all is well in the end for you. Hi, Scoob, and welcome to the group! I've never heard of the symptoms you're describing and I'm glad to hear you've already scheduled something with your dentist. Hopefully it's a quick fix.
