Picked up my meds today | Arthritis Information

So... I picked up my meds today, and was quite pleased to see that the Lyrica was PAed!! WOOOHOOO!!

I have this one lady that I like at the pharmacy, and she always helps me out. I had not seen her for a while, so I thought she moved on. Then when I went to drop off my new RXs she was there and I told her that Lyrica will have to be PAed thru medicaid. She said she would get it done. When I walked off I thought, yeah and I will come back to pick it up and it will just be ran thru hubby's insurance and it will be and I will have to tell the cashier I do not want it. Well... it is not that I do not want it.... I just cannot afford it.

I am not going to start taking the Lyrica until beginning of next month, because I will not be able to afford it in May, as my Medicaid will be cut off for that month. And I will have to pay the .

I am just happy something FINALLY got PAed! I was beginning to get frustrated with all these new meds not being PAed and then I had to do without.

I also started MTX tonight. I am kinda sleepy, and I have weird pains that were not here before I took the MTX. But we also had rain, tornado warnings, and t-storms today and later tonight. So... the weird pain might be from that. Not entirely sure.

I just thought I wouls share my news about something FINALLY being PAed!!
Jooine, when you say PAed, do you mean paid?  Or does PA mean something else?

Oh~ congrats, by the way :)
Prior Authorized. Insurance gets to decide if they will allow me to have the med.

Yeah I am hoping Lyrica will do what my RD says it is suppose to do, which is making my legs twitch, jerk and "fall asleep" (RLS) and to help with the fibro, too.
joonie2009-04-10 19:55:26Joonie I take lyrica.
It is a godsend for my fibro.  Only problem is that is could make you drowsy so watch it for the first few days.  I also had problem with munchies.  So had to change to just a nighttime pill instead of morn and night.  Good luck with it.
Karen
Oh she has me taking it at bedtime.

It says to take 1 tablet 2 hours before bedtime for 3 days, then 2 tablets 2 hours before bedtime for 3 days, then 3 tables 2 hours before bedtime for 3 days, and then take 4 tablets 2 hours before bedtime thereafter.

So... I guess I am to be taking 100mg of Lyrica. They are 25mg pills.
Joonie - thank goodness, another break going you way!  WOO HOO !!

I don't quite understand how my insurance company can override the RX of my medical doctor and I have to pay out-of-pocket for procedures and medications, but that's the system.  I am just grateful I do have insurance of some form.

Let us know if this helps with the restless leg syndrome so we can get rid of that bar of soap between the sheets at the end of our beds.

Hope it helps you.

[QUOTE=joonie]So... I picked up my meds today, and was quite pleased to see that the Lyrica was PAed!! WOOOHOOO!! One of my insurances, not sure which one... will not let me get my RXs refilled a week before I run out. This Lyrica and another one I had Remeron are only 25 day supply. I have to wait 30 calendar days before they will pay for my refill. Hubby says it is his insurance that is doing it, because he has heard some others talk about it. Thing is Medicaid will not pay, until BC/BS pays their part first.

I have not figured out how to get around the 30 day thing. For my Remeron I just reordered my lower dose ones and then took my RX in for the higher dose ones and they filled them no problem. So... I just took my lower dose ones for another month and just kept the higher dose ones and then refilled the higher dose ones when I ran out of the lower dose ones and then I started my higher dose. Doing that made me one month ahead. So... I never ran out and had to go by that stupid rule of not refilling before the 30 calendar days.

I was told by the people at the pharmacy to order refills a week in advance, but I cannot one of the insurances will not let.
Thanks for all of the info. I had just thought it would be to expencive to get my hopes up. I will ask my doc for the generics on Monday. Now I am excited for both of us. I have to get all of my vacines and well even with insurance this gets rather expencive.
