I have had arthritis for 20 years at least. I have taken all the pulled meds. had knee and hand replacement. Took predisine for asthma attack and noticed I was free from pain, but it is slowly returning. heard there are side effects from pred what are they? I now take aleve (4 a day). But, am considering trying the doc again. Oh, also had injections in back and hips. Any feedback appreciated.Hi I am taking prednisone 10 mgs a day. It makes you FAT. I have been taking it for over a year now for my RA, and it puts on the water weight and fat in the abdomen. It also increases blood pressure eventually too. Not good for too long. I have had my left knee replaced, and am starting with Humira tonight..I'll let you know how that works.

Maslaynak~

Have you ever been dignosised with RA? Or is it considered OA in your doctors opinion? A positive reaction to predisone is a very good indication of RA. If you've had it for 20 years and are not on any medication except Aleve I'd question what sort of doctor you are seeing.

I take MTX & Humira and it's a good combination. Not only is it helping with the pain....it is slowing the progression. That's key with RA. I'm a little unclear on what you have.

Question for you; how horrible were the injections in the back? I'm thinking about this opition myself. I've had them in hips, shoulders, knees....but directly into the back scares me for some reason. I think it's coming to that though.
