Look, I know it was impossible to get the license plate numbers of every truck in that fleet, but did 'ya at least get one of them????  Guess the plan is:  Be careful what you wish for, huh?

A suggestion regarding MTX:  drink alot of water the day before..... the day of... and the day after....  I take it after dinner w/ a snack and ride out the "worst" of it during the night..

Sorry to say you may feel a little under the weather the day after so plan accordingly... i.e. a day when you can rest up.

Best to you!!
OK, to the nitty-gritty. I started taking my folic acid, 1mg daily which will be every day except MTX day, and I picked up some fish oil capsules and have been taking 3 a day. I need to get some biotin from everything I have been reading here and begin that. Is there anything else y'all think I should do in preparation?
Think positively and expect the best rather that the worse. Understand that MTX can take weeks, or even months, to become fully effective.

Re: fish oil, I take 10-12 every day on the advise of my physician. Each enteric coated capsule contains EPA 432 mg and DHA 288 mg. Of course, before adding any supplement at any level of ingestion check with your physician. Fish oil can increase one's tendency to bruise which is already increased with MTX.

Best wishes for a speedy return to health, Shug

Ya' got that right!!
Spelunker, the fish oil was suggested by the rheumy, but there was no discussion on dosages. I got the 'Pure Alaska Omega' brand wild alaskan salmon oil - all natural cold pressed, extra virgin, etc. Each 'serving' is 2000mg total, with 220mg DHA and 180mg EPA. Label directions said to take two a day and I upped that to three but will have to find out just how much she thinks I should take. Heck, I was worried about overdoing it!
Check out >>THIS TOPIC<< for some well presented insights re: Omega 3/fish oil
I agree w/ Spug about not wishing for the worst... but BE kind to yourself just in case.

I no longer feel the need to have that rest up day.. I just take to bed a little earlier and get up feeling just fine!
I take mine on friday night with a bowl of cereal. My RD and Babs are in agreement; take it at night and sleep through the worst of it. The next day I feel slightly hung over. Not enough to be yaking, but still feeling like I had one drink too many. (ah..those were the days )
Good luck sweetie. Mtx did help me feel better. I hope it helps you too!Thank you for the tips and words of wisdom. I am actually looking forward to getting started in hopes of maximum benefit. Sorta' dreading it, but looking upon this as the beginning of feeling better...

Sunny, you might not have any side effects from mtx at all,  I don't.  It doesn't run me down, upset my stomach, make my hair fall out or make me feel hung over.  I can't feel that I took it any more than I would feel a skittles.  Hope it goes the same for you :)Hi Sunny.....I've been taking mtx for over 17 years now and I'm the same as Linncn..never felt sick or anything else with mtx.
Good luck!
Kelly
I've had a good run with MTX without any side affects.
Have been on it for nearly two and a half years.

I had to find out what worked for me with MTX because in the beginning  I had issues with it.  For me, I have to eat good meals throughout the day of MTX, and I take it right before I go to sleep.  Now I get along with it, lol.
