Humira- Enbrel weight restrictions | Arthritis Information

Does anyone know if you have to be a certain weight to use the pre-filled syringes or Sure Clicks? I recently came across something randomly that said Enbrel required you to be at least 138 pounds but I can't seem to find any other indication of this elsewhere.ummm I am 123 pounds 5'7 and my doc didn't say anything to me about it. I was on it for a few months. I hope that isn't the case. The weight caveats are for children.

From Rx List
The recommended dose of ENBREL® for pediatric patients ages 2 to 17 years with active polyarticular-course JIA is 0.8 mg/kg per week (up to a maximum of 50 mg per week). The 25 mg prefilled syringe is not recommended for pediatric patients weighing less than 31 kg (68 pounds). The 50 mg prefilled syringe or SureClick™ autoinjector may be used for pediatric patients weighing 63 kg (138 pounds) or more.
I'm 119 lbs and my doctor didn't say anything about weight. Maybe that's just for peds as spelunker sited. But why would it be different for a child? It kind of made sense to me since the strength of drugs you get are usually prescribed based on your weight and what makes these pens "one size fits all"? Administering and dosing information..

To more adequately have your questions answered there is a telephone number for a support line at the bottom of the page.

Best wishes, Shug

Sno- me thinks wannabe is trying to make excuses as to why she can't use a biologic... you know- she's not chickening out or anything....
Aw, you're not a chicken Wannabe, you have understandable concerns.  I've never once thought about that.....but I've been under that weight the entire time I've been on Humira and my doctor has never once mentione anything about weight.

It does seem strange thought that it's all the same dose though, doesn't it? You would think that weight would make a difference in the way your body absorbs it.
You'd think.  But then again, some people react to things, others not at all.  When I was on MTX, it was like I wasn't on anything.  No effect, no side effects.  But I guess Humira may work differently.  You would think but I guess it's not an issue after all.
I know it seems like I'm given less strength pain meds which I thought was because I'm small. Yet they do absolutely nothing for me! I need a lot! Yet my big strapping 260 lb. husband feels all disoriented on the smallest does of anything.....
It's weird!
Anyway- i think I was looking for a good out of why I CAN'T take a biologic because I'm chickening out again.
One time I was given HALF of a valum before having my wisdom teeth taken out and it knocked me out completely! They had to CARRY my in to the doctors office. I don't remember a thing about the entire experience except waking up at home. It was pretty nice actually. If I even have to have a procedure done again, I will be sure to take a half!  :)

I don't think it had anything to do with my weight. I really think some people take medicines differently.
My husband's like that too WBF; although he's not much bigger than me he can't handle any sort of pain med. He's gets loopy quick! I'm a lot more use to it I think.
