A fair-skinned person can manufacture 15,000 IU or more of vitamin D in as little as 30 minutes of optimal sun exposure sans sunscreen Good to know !!!But in temperate climates (like Chicagoland) that's often easier said than done in winter, spring and fall - due to temperature, angle of the sun, and the fact that people are often inside during the peak D-producing time of the day when the sun is at its highest point.
there has to be a solution for those in the northernmost places... I believe, and feel stronger and stronger each day, that this little vita-hormone is vital to our good health.

Can you get it from tanning booths?

Waddie,
I had a discussion with my daughter's concerning that subject. (one is a biochemist and the other is an inorganic chemist) I'll try and find that e-mail and post it. As I remember, the upshot was that using a tanning booth wasn't such a bad idea...but there was a caveat..Just can't remember what it was.
i recall reading something about this also Waddie... I think it doesn' thave the right rays or something... I too will have to look for that info.Wish the sun would come out and stay out so I could get a little.......
