EXTRA bad fatigue days but no RA symptoms? | Arthritis Information

This is the shorter version of the story but I went home for easter to see my parents and take my 18 month old daughter to her first ever Easter Egg Hunt. We flew there (a 1 hour flt) and for the first two days I was there I was MAJORLY fatigued and feeling like crap. My arms were really heavy, my legs were really heavy, sometimes I felt like I needed to take extra deep breaths to get enough oxygen, my heart area kind of ached and I just felt HORRIBLE like I was massively anemic, low on blood sugar, had a low BP, or *gasp* pregnant again.

Anywho I went to the urgent care doctor up there. They ran a full blood panel - no ameia, no low blood sugar, no signs of infection. BP was completely normal, chest x-ray was clear and pregnancy test came back negative. The only thing even slightly abnormal (and it was still within "normal" ranges") was my EKG which showed one of the leads with a slightly dipped rating but that doesnt mean anything.

So during these two days of super crappy feelings, NOTHING shows up on the tests. I didnt have ANY RA symptoms like I would during a flare, there were no signs of anything viral so whats wrong with me?????!?

After the first two days it got better to just my usual level of tiredness.

Its SO FRUSTRATING to feel super crappy and have nothing "wrong" with you. Could this just be my life with an autoimmune disease???

ummm... abby....

sounds like the RA symptoms I had during a flare........

my tests show NOTHING as well... IDK what to tell you.. and I hate that this info may make you feel bad.... but "and for the first two days I was there I was MAJORLY fatigued and feeling like crap. well.. that's partially how I felt during a flare
I think we may be riding on the same fatigue train, Ab. I believe it's all part of life with a AI disease. I feel ya on the labworks, too. My BP when my pain is at a 10 is a lovely 120/70 which is abnormally high for me, but not high for the folks taking it. I'm not really in pain, I'm just there for the drugs (with that lovely constipation side effect).... and I LOVE paying the copays. I should go more often.  ;)

I have that same "heavy" feeling  in the limbs some days - tonight is one of them.  It just seems like so much effort to do anything.   I think it's just the life of having this disease.  The best medicine may be to just give into it and lay low.

Still I am proud of you for going and checking things out. Because who knows? Next time it might be something. It is always hard to say. Are you taking in meds? Sometimes meds throw the bloodwork off. Just antibiotics would keep your infection from showing up. Prednisone might interfer with your sedrate. I am glad you are feelling better. I hope it was just a fluke.I suffer from the Great Fatigue symptom every day, usually about 5 hours after waking up in the morning and then about 5 hours after waking up from my nap. Like my RD told me to do, I have adjusted to that just being part of my new life and so deal with it. The point of telling you this is to say that I can totally relate to the awful feeling of it. For me, it feels like I have a very high fever... with pain and brain fog.

I'm wondering though, did you take any motion sickness med for the plane ride? That can hang on awhile. Another thought... does your mom live in a different altitude than you are used to? Even if you lived there growing up, you can get unused to it.

I sure hope the rest of your visit was fun. I will say though that as a mom who lives 8 hours away, it sure feels good to be needed by my daughter. And although I haven't experienced being a gramma yet, my mom always said it was a whole other fun dynamic being with her grandchild without the mommy being around. So consider you gave your mom some unexpected gifts!

I prescribed myself one 16 fluid ounce can of "green" MONSTER energy drink every morning. I'm not sure of it's valuable content but it sure gets my leg jiggling at a hundred miles an hour.
