Just trying to get a feel as to how long a person usually gets relief from a medication before it fizzels out.My meds didn't fizzle out.  I have had back to back infections for the last 10 weeks or so.  RD recommended that I stop meds until infection clears which may be as long as 2 months.  Lindyhope you are quickly back in remission, Lindy

I've been taking enbrel since the end of March 09 and MTX since October 2007.  I just started really feeling good in February.
LinB I am glad your meds have not fizzeled out. I was just a bit courious because I have seen a few post before of people that did well for years and years and then bamb. It always touches my heart as often these people are older than me and it is just heartbreaking. I am wondering if it is an often occurance or a seldom occurance. I started Plaquenil when I was first diagnosed in August 2004.  It worked for a couple of years before it wasn't enough.  I  really don't think the drug "fizzled out" as much as my RA progressed.  At that time, I tried Sulfasalazine and MTX for awhile but had no luck.  I started Enbrel 16 months ago.  It started working two weeks into it and I really haven't had any trouble other than some mild achiness when the weather changes. kweenb2009-04-19 19:43:05I've been on Prednisone for over 20 years for PsA.  Doses of between 7mg to 15 mg.  Every time I try to ween myself off when on other meds (Enbrel, Humira, etc) I end up back on Prednisone.  Seems like to only med that works.  I've just started Remicade a couple of months ago and I'm down to 1mg of prednisone.  Only 2 more weeks and I should be right off it.  I hope.
Been on mtx for 17 years...plaquenil 17 years....sulfasalazine...not sure..I think maybe 3-4 yearsI am on 2000mgs Sulfasalazine, 200mgs Plaquenil ( down from 400) and 2.5 mgs Pred now. Have been on them a year, but the Pred was at 10mgs to start and worked wonders!

Kelstev.....what mg of Plaq are you on? My RD has cut me to one a day, and Im sure that is 200mgs. Just starting to feel a little more uncomfortable lately, I dunno. Maybe its not reducing the Plaq, but......??
