OT: Furore in NZ over Eskimo sweets | Arthritis Information

For the Canadians here, Im sure you have (or will ) get to hear about this! These sweets have been produced here for years ( at least 40yrs) and I have never considered that it could be distasteful to Inuits. We here in NZ get upset when an American recipe tells you to ' slice one kiwi'...lololol!! New Zealanders are called 'Kiwi's' and the fruit is named Kiwifruit.

Sorry...its all a bit of trivia but hey....would be interested in how you all feel about it.

I guess, knowing very little about the Inuits other than the mistreatment and sickness we brought to them, I would wonder how it would feel to walk a mile in their shoes.  They are a very proud people, most of them, but I really can't see what the problem is here.  I wonder if the company making the sweets could call them something else or reshape them?  You know, this seems to be popping up all over, court cases and fighting.  We have enough money going down the drain without this kind of trivial stuff but I guess if it is so important to them let them go for it.

Make sense to you...Nah,...me either.
