Does Mtx make all but me sick on next day? | Arthritis Information

I keep seeing here that Mtx makes so many of you sick on the day after you take your weekly dose of Mtx, requiring you to plan it carefully into your lives.

I don't see any difference on any day pertaining to when I take my dose. I take 15mg on Sundays, just so I can remember easier. I take it in injections because of my bowel disease and since Plaquenil made me lose 30lbs from a diarrhea reaction. I wonder if avoiding the gut is what is helpful.

Does everybody get sick after their weekly dose of Mtx except me?  I'm not complaining, mind you, just curious.

I don't any longer CathyMarie.. but I use to.
I take it during the week now the night after I take my enbrel shot....  no problems except it CAN cause stomach upset... but I'm careful about that too.
I take 25mgs and have never been sick from it in the 17 years I've taken mtx. I notice nothing different the day or the day after I take mtx.No, I don't have any GI problems with MXT.  My only reaction is a little more fatigue than normal.  LindyCathy, I don't have any side effects from either of my meds (mtx, enbrel).I am planning to ask my rd if I can inject my MTX.  I have a host of stomach problems and wonder if that would be better for me.  I totally lose my appetite and I just feel draggy.  Nothing that stops me from doing what I normally would do though.  Hiking_galI have been on MTX for about 7 yrs and have not had any trouble with it making me sick ..maybe a headache but I drink plenty of fluids and that helps with that. But the main problem I have had are mouth ulcers. The Dr. took me off of it but I still had trouble with them just on the Orencia and also it just didn't work by it self so went back on Mtx and am starting Remicade on Thursday if all goes well. I couldn't get the Remicade last Friday because of the mouth ulcers being so bad.  LauraI experienced some intermittent nausea and lethargy when I began taking MTX, but those effects were short-lived and now I actually look forward to MTX day as I know the stiffness and brittleness will be relieved in short order. I'm not on it anymore for that reason. I took it for 18 months and the longer I was on it the worse my problem got.  I would take it on Friday night at bedtime and be sick until Friday morning of the next week. Just when I started feeling better I had to take it again that night.  It also caused me major joint pain. My stomach and my joints felt way better once my rheumy took me off of it.I don't sick from mtx. Maybe a little more tired, but then again I take my mtx on Wednesday's and by then the workweek is 1/2 over, so maybe that's making me more tired. When I was on Mtx before I became dizzy and fell.  Later on, nausea, no taste for food and walking like a zombie next day was common.  After a break of 8 months I started Mtx again 3 weeks ago and now I  have a dry cough after taking first dose of mtx.  I do not know if they are related. but no dizziness, less fatigue from previous time.

I was on it for 18 years with only an occassional headache to show. I was on 25-30 mg for much of that time

Interesting.  Like I said, I have no bad reaction from my inj Mtx... not even extra tiredness, although, it would be hard for me to tell that.  I'm glad to hear many of you are ok with yours too and sorry for those of you who have troubles.

After the first few times I never felt sick. I take it late Friday afternoon, fall asleep early Friday night and sleep in (like all the way to 830 Saturday morning..

I guess I'm lucky.
I get a different reaction each time I take it.  Sometimes I can't tell I even took it.  Other times I am a bit tired, sometimes a bit sick to my stomach but it comes and goes.  The most common thing I notice with me is sometimes it makes me anti-social--I mean sometimes I am just ready to start a good fight with someone (not physically)--I just find it better to avoid a lot of social situations where I have to be nice to everyone all day long.  And it is just the day after.  The next day I am my sweet, plays well with others type person.  Wow, Cat... that's a bad reaction for you and those around you!
Has never made me sick but heavens knows what else it is doing.
For the time being it is working for me so fingers crossed it stays that way.
Mtx is working for me too so I'm glad I don't feel any uncomfortable reactions.I take MTX on Sunday nights with dinner.  At first it hurt my stomach and gave me gas.  Sometimes I feel a tweak of nausea the next day.  I work (mostly clerical, I sit alot) M-F 40 hours per week, MTX has helped me so much
