I had a visit to my RD today and she said she was going to run a new blood test on me. I've tested negative for RF on ANA and anti-CCP panels, but she said there is a brand new test available that is more sensitive for detecting antibodies. I didn't get the name of the test and am having no luck finding it on the net. Has anyone heard of this?
I haven't heard of anything new....let us knon what your find out
wow.. ColoMo!! Get the name when you get the results!! I'm dying to know!
Thanks!!
I too would like to know...inquiring minds, et all! Took forever to find out what the new test was and then to get my results (cluster at the RD office). Anyways, there IS a very new test used to diagnose RA - so new that the nurses couldn't even tell me anything about it. Today I got a brochure and was able to find some info online. The test is called Avise MCV. Apparently 10% of patients with RA who are RF- and CCP- will show positive with this test. It also claims to be able to determine long-term prognosis based on the test score. There is a second Avise test that is used to fine-tune MTX dosing.
