On Fri. afternoon, I was taking my mom home from a long day of doctor visits for her when I was pulled over by the city police.  I gave her my license and proof of insurance as requested.  She returned to my car with ticket book, license and POI in hand and read me the riot act for having an expired license.  I apologized profusely (wow.. waddie.

I think you were definitely detained.. IDK if that would be considered arrested, but maybe?

you're a convict !!!  I know!!!  I guess my poor old mum is an accomplice! I should probably talk to a lawyer.  Funny thing, I talked to her supervisor about the whole incident and she started saying, in defense of the officer, how she had to make a judgment call as to whether or not we would try to run.  My mom and I just burst out laughing!  I explained how neither of us would get more than a few steps at our best attempt to run... and the officer would definitely not have to try very hard to catch us!   All she had to do was to look at our grey hair and see that! now that's funny stuff!!  you and your mom in black and white striped shirts- that's too funny! Glad to see you can keep your sense of humor! Well, if nothing else it makes a great story.  And it's nice that you and your mom get to have grey hair together. :) Aw, thanks to everyone, it really means a lot to me!  I will tell you where to send the cake.  (Waddie whispering, "...the one with the file in it!")  Me and Maw... on the lam!

edited to add a )!

The one and only time I was in a traffic court was with my darling dh.  We had a very       small  engined van that did not have a lot of get up and go. We were going uphill and the cop was coming down.  He screamed a uey and came after us and said we were going 120 klm in a 100 klm zone.  I knew were were going 10 klm over the limit but no way 20 klm and besides that he was a real smart mouth cop and mean.  We get into court and rather than tell the judge that we were only going 10 klm over the limit he tells the judge, when asked why he felt he was not speeding, dh tells him "Because my wife won't let me."  Every one in the court turned and looked at me and they laughed like h***.  I was so embarassed I could have fallen through the floor.

We had the van checked afterwards and it was out 10 klm so we were going 120 klm.

I wish you a lot of luck when you go to court.

Hilarious! I LOVE this story! That is something my dear dear husband would do to me. He pulls the "my wife won't let me" card whenever it suits him. Drives me crazy because in reality, the best way to get him to do something is to tell him I DONT want him to do it. I get all of the blame and none of the power!

Good luck Waddie! I hope you can avoid doing any hard time. Take my advice and stay away from those prison tats! Wow, Waddie! You're the first "convict" I've ever known! hehe  ;)yeah basically you were arrested.. if not actually...arrested, then...detained.

Wanna go on the lam with me??  I missed my court date last week due to being  in the dr office being diagnosed with pneumonia..

I am sincerely hoping that the justice has a student in one of Mark's classes (and likes him, lol.)
I am buying a black and white striped shirt for mom and I tomorrow!
