Looks like, lots of people take different kind of vitamins.  As a newbie, I would like to know  true and tested vitamins which you all are taking (and also their potency) which help in RA.  To start, I am taking Iron becauseI  have chronic anemia and very low iron. Iron level went really low when RA hit for some reasonHi, I just take a multi-vitamin.   My RD said to find one w/o iron  - something about at a certain age (close to menopause) iron isn't always a good one to include.  To tell you the truth I never searched as to why, but trusted her so found one w/o it.   I'm sure others will respond later.

Take care

Veenu, my suggestion would be to first check with your homeopathic practitioner before beginning taking ANY additional supplements.

And, rather than once again bumping the thread to the top:
Has your cough and "itchy throat" resolved? If not have you contacted your physician? If you have contacted your physician, can you please share the advice/counsel you were offered?
veenu,

This is a mistake that I made when I was taking vitamins. I purchased a very expensive vitamin. I started taking them and I think it was only a few days after starting I had very painful flaring in my joints. I found out that the vitamins, had all kinds of supplements added that boosts the immune system. I was taking meds to slow my immune system which controlled my pain and swelling and then I added immune boosters from the vitamins that counteracted my meds to slow my immune system. I quit taking the vitamins, my flares went away and I take no vitamins at this time but labs don't show a lack of anything.

All I take is Calcium and Vit D, for osteopenia and since my lab results were low.

Multivitamins aggravate my bad bowel disease. Every type I've tried reeks havoc with my poor GI tract.  Even before I got RA, I kept trying them every couple of years ... I just had to give up.

I take a multi-vitamin with iron as requested by my GP since I'm low on iron.  I also take a probiotic which completely resolved my intestinal problems from NSAIDs within about 2 days(thanks Pip!).  I also take magnesium and biotin which I heard they help regulate blood sugar.  I'm taking a new drug that can cause a problem with diabetes and I'm just trying to safeguard myself.

I'd take fish oil but the last time I tried my husbands brand, I broke out in hives.  I'm afraid to try another one.  I hear it's a great anti-inflammatory.
