Who has High Cholesterol? | Arthritis Information

Do any of you have high cholesterol and if so how high is it? HDL & LDL's if you know. How do you control it? At what point did you have to start medication if you have to use it?

My OB's office just called the office and said mine was high from my check up last week. They wanted me to follow up with my GP. It ws 218 and the HDL was 37 and LDL was 163. I've just started being serious about this diet this week. I think I'm going to wait about another month and see if I can lower it with diet and exercise before I even make the appointment. It is hgh.....but not that high.

Years ago I had some problems....and I honestly don't even know when the last time I had mine checked was.

If it's not one thing it's another. I get so tired of the constant rush to the doctors....it totally wears me out. I wish I could just have one doctor for everything!
IDK what mine is... I need to have that checked..

I remember reading that the SouthBeach Diet is really good for changing the LDL and HDL ratios to a more preferred numbers
Mine is good (total 162) but my husband's, just checked, is high... don't know numbers yet. Why don't men (most anyway) ever know medical details?

I need to research good diet changes. I told him a quick, easy to remember, start is to avoid everything white...bread,rice,potatoes,pasta and substitute with wheat etc instead. He doesn't drink or smoke but does eat candy. We both need to exercise more but my RA Fatigue interferes with his best times on his workdays so we can't do it together except 2 days/week. Somehow, I need to get him to actually go do it. I'll be watching for all good advice here. I want him to grow old with me.

Lovie-
I have had high cholesterol for a long time but my bad is a low number and my good is a high number so they never do anything. I don't remember the exact numbers off the top of my head but I think the good is in the high 60's. What I don't understand is why when you add the 2 numbers together it is not what they say your total cholesterol is. I think right now mine is 239 which is "normal" for me. In Nov. it jacked up to 280 and my trigycerides were 906! I was retested in a month. All I did was eat Cheerios instead of presweetened oatmeal for breakfast and the trigycerides came down to 306 and current cholesterol number....
um mine is terrible, like 3oo something, but i am not worried, why bc either i'm a silly or bc, i'm sooo tired, of everything being bad for one!
I AM on liptor.. my grandmothers, great aunts, all lived to be in their 90's.. me i just don't care, that much about living long, i don't.
As long as the cats are around, i'll stay around..
It can cause you to have a stroke. I think that's what scares me far more than a heart attack. A stroke can leave you totally helpless.....and I certainly don't want to burden my husband with that.

I'm a little worried; but after doing some research I don't think mine is that bad. I'll be aware of it and continue to try to get it down with controlling my diet better.

Whispered; Is yours still in the 300's even with the Lipator?
