OT - any office supply addicts? | Arthritis Information

I have a confession - I am an office supply addict.  I have probably 15 different types of paper in stock in my office - regular copy paper, 32lb color laser paper (a joy to write AND print on!), various weights and colors of regular ink jet/laser paper, parchment, index card stock.  Then there's the various office machines.  A 2-wire binding machine, 2 laminating machines,  various hole punchers (3-hole, 7-hole in classic and letter size; Levenger/Rollabind); 4 different printers, ranging from a portable/travel inkjet to a color laser to a wide-format printer.  Binding covers, laminating stock, scrapbook materials; rotary and guillotine paper cutters; scissors, shears, corner rounders, shredders; clips, tacks, pens, pencils, markers, highlighters; post-its, index cards, note pads... UGH!  I try to avoid the office supply aisle, and I only go to the office supply store if absolutely necessary because I inevitably walk out with way more stuff then was on my list!

I do actually use most of this mess, mainly for church/school stuff and community activities (my group hosts lots of forums and meetings for various local hotbutton topics).  My friends love to come over to use the stuff - it's just like going to Kinko's only without the long lines and the bill! I love office supply stores Years ago I worked as a secretary in large manufacturing company, working for roughly 15 people.  Each week they would give me a list of office supplies they needed, and I would get to go "shopping" at the office supplies department.  It was huge and you used a cart just like you were in a real store, LOL.

It was the greatest fun to get to shop weekly without spending money, and I got to see all the new things that had come in, and pick them up for myself to "try them out"!  I loved that part of my job!  And some of the supplies available for the executives were pretty darn nice too!
oh you would ALL love my husband.!!  I have a bedroom that's an office... with a double door closed loaded w/ shelves for all his supplies..... and four... (YES FOUR) printers.. and a server (PC) all inside....  A HUGE winding around 3/4 of the room desk and an architects board separate...... two large comfy office chairs and pens and file cabinets by the dozens...  I love the desk when I am quilting....... I have alot of space to arrange things! I too have an addiction to anything paper related.  My craft room is covered in all kinds of paper related things and beads.  Of course having an obsession with paper related items makes me very good at my administration job!  (There had to be a plus somewhere, lol).  I am in my element when I'm printing or photocopying or laminating or ...or...or... lol

I'm clearing some of the stuff out of my craft room because we are renovating.  I'm clearing it out, not getting rid of it.  As my hubby would say...I'm rationalising it.  Tidying it, sorting it and putting it into nice storage bins ready to hide away when he finishes the cupboards in the room with lots of shelves.  Then we pull a wall down and end up with a bigger family room with lots of storage for my 'stuff'.

I can't go into an office store without buying something, anything, paper, a filing box, a cool pen, a memory stick.  I lust after guillotines and binding machines and laminators.

My name is Pam, and I'm an office supply addict....
Sniffffff!  I looooove paper!!!  And anything to do with making a mark on a page!  I can not pass up a pretty pack of colored pens or pencils and some really nice paper!  I know it is the artist in me crying out "Put a mark on that page!" 4 printers, a laminater, various cutting tools, clamps, A3, A4, A5, A2 & A0 paper, over head projector, photographic paper, normal paper, coloured card....the list is endless
I blame my father...he was in the industry
...a hand-illustrated Book of Kells, bound it ourselves, it's one of my most precious things,
Oooooh. Do you have any photos or scans?
What a treasure Snow!   Whew!  I'm glad I'm not the only one!!! A little bit.My hubby loves office supplies. He has pens, papers 2 laser printers 3 ink jet. he is such a pack rat. we almost we buried under his "stuff" when he worked for Staples. He was in heaven.I forgot about my clamps and clips - all colors, materials, sizes, decorated, undecorated.  I bead the metal clips and have sold quite a few of them, so I'm not the only clip and clamp nut out there.  Colored pencils, art pencils, pens and I've just discovered drafting pens - heaven, makes my sketches so much better.  This thread is addicting and I have work to do, bye.  L

My favourite job at work is ordering the stationery on-line.  I get to browse through the catalogue....and they pay me!!!  Then when the order comes I get to handle everything when I put it away.  I love it!! I was doing laminating today at work and kept feeling guilty about not 'working'.   Then I had some filing to do...same thing. I can't believe they pay me to play with stationery!!!

Pammy, somehow you made your post about paper sound almost erotic.   I had a good chuckle when I read it.  The visuals of you fondling each piece of paper!!  Enjoy your work.  Lindywow, you guys have me beat in spades! lol

I still haven't figured out (or spent much time) figuring out how to hook the printer up to the laptop.

I'm usually in heaven, when school items go back to school, I'm a notebook freak and index cards.. esp colored ones!!

Whispered2009-05-01 12:06:53I've ordered a few things from Vistaprint.  Generally even the "freebies" end up costing something, though I believe you can get completely free business cards so long as you choose the option with the cheapest cardstock and the "vistaprint.com" logo on the back.  I ordered some heavy-cardstock (not the stuff offered in the "free" option) business cards from them, and had additional custom printing on the back.  They look really nice, and I think it cost me about for 250 cards.  Definitely higher quality than I could do myself at home, even with all my gizmos. I'm on my way to OfficeWorks for my fix.I have to admit to being a craft supply junkie, which include all the glorious card stocks and papers and gadgets! Sadly, I don't have enough mobility in my hands to sketch or draw anymore (and how I do miss it!); but I can still stamp card stock and make beautiful "one of a kind" cards for my friends!
