Remicade Infusion Yesterday | Arthritis Information

It was the fastest infusion I have ever had! Probably had something to do with, that the Remicade nurse did not have to poke and prode around for a vein for almost an hour and many attempts!

She got me done in 2 sticks, and she accidentally got the 2nd stick right. She was surprised she got it and did not have to do her "big stick now". That is what she says before she pokes me. It is not a big stick she needs to do with my veins she just runs thru one side and out the other when she does that.

So... I got my 300mg of Remicade, Solumedrol, 50mg of benedryl and infusion time was under 2 hours Woohooo!

Remicade nurse said it looked like I was not doing well. I said yep, and today is a good day! She said well the rest of the week must have been bad. I said yep and the couple of weeks before. So... she wrote it all down in my file.

When I was checking in front desk lady said RD wanted me to go get MRIs of my hands the same day. I was like I cannot do that. So, we scheduled it for an hour before my next RD appt on June 2nd. My RD has a small MRI machine in her office. It only does hands, feet and I think knees. But I did not have another hour to spend to get the MRIs done. When I left there after my infusion, it was already 4:30pm. They close at 5pm.

I have very little swelling today! WOOHOO!! I can bend my legs again when I walk. Seems kinda strange to be able to. And I actually slept well last night and did not even wake up as many times thru the night. Hubby woke me up to give me my meds, and I had hiim out back the muscle relaxer and pain meds. I had no use for them. Sure my back was hurting before we got home, but once I went to sleep that pain went away too. LOL!

My fingers are still a little swelled and not working right, but they will get better as the week goes on.

So... that was my infusion yesterday.
Joonie, I am happy you had such a smooth infusion day!  You deserve a break, kiddo!  That's pretty cool your RD has a mini MRI in her office!  That would sure be easier than going through the whole claustrophobic thing for me!  I feel panic just thinking about it!Anyway, glad you are doing so well!  Good for you. Glad things are looking up for you finally.Yay joonie!!! Sooo happy for you!!
Sounds like this might be the right med , for you.  It did help me a lot.. but it took me over 6 hrs to take it the first time!!!... the 2nd time, unfortuantely my body wouldn't take it, do you know that thats 15,000 dollars??
..
I really hope this works for you and you can stay on it. Made such a difference in my life and i was soo upset, when it wouldn't work the next time.. but sounds like it will w/ you.
Yeee haw!!!Sounds like a good appointment overall.  Wow---2hrs, that would be awesome.  I hate how long the Rituxan infusions are, but at least they are not as often.
I hope you continue to feel better as the Remicade kicks in!!!Joonie - that's tremendous - you deserve it.  I'm glad it's done and already helping you. Have a good weekend with your family.

Thanks Everyone!

I am doing good. I have some swelling going on, but that is because of the rain we are getting. PLUS, I started swelling last after I took my MTX. Kinda fishy... if you ask me! Last night dose of MTX has made it a month I have been on it, and to tell you the truth... I really hurt more and in more places now then I did before starting the MTX. But I am going to continue taking it until I go back to my RD in June.

I have been going all day since yesterday. I have insomnia again. I am not even really tired now. I was when we were in the car, but not since then. I am going to start Lyrica tonight. So... I should not have insomnia anymore from this fibro. I am hoping it is fibro causing it anyways. If not then I have bigger problems then I thought LOL!

My toes finally gave out today around 2pm. I had been walking around thru stores and yard sales since 7am. And now I am on the way to the in-laws house. More walking. Gotta go look at the BIG expensive mud puddle in their back yard.

have not took a pain pill or muscle relaxer since Thursday. Heck... I almost forgot about taking my pred Friday night, since I did not even notice body needing it.

Way to go Joonie!!!  I have heard good things about Lyrica so hopefully that will take care of the fibro and you will know for sure which pain belongs to which disease.

How did the in-laws get a big expensive puddle in their yard?  Did I miss something before?

Take care

The Solumedrol and Benedryl that I get before Rituxan makes me wired for about 48hrs.  Same when I get nerve blocks.  It used to be frustrating, but now that I know it will happen, I plan my "big" cleaning jobs for those days.  Might as well put that extra energy/pain relief to good use!Glad to hear you had an easy infusion and are feeling pretty good! It must feel good not to have to take pain meds and muscle relaxers. I don't take nearly the meds you do and I just get sick of swallowing pills.
Hope you continue to feel well for a long, long time.
Well... if the truth be told. the feeling well for a long time, is not now. I feel like sh*t. I am swelled in both knees, ankles, elbows and the tops of both of my feet. My feet and toes are screaming bloody murder, my hips are clicking and popping, my back is KILLING me.  I am just laying here hoping the pain subsides on its own. Everything is jerking and twitching and hurting. Not aching... HURTING! And it is not all fibro. Fibro does not cause swelling!

All of this because we done a family day out again, and I have been going since yesterday. I have insomnia again. WOOHOO! For me not!

But it is all ok to me, because at least I can bend my knees a little better and my fingers and hands are much more usable and people are not staring at me like I am a freak now because I am not walking around like a 3000 year old mummy!

Kinda weird. How I have this swelling again, and after having solumedrol. Time to make more Dr appts. My left knee is getting much worse, my right knee is probably shot anyways.

But I am still happy with how I have responded to Remicade. But I might have to give in and change to another biological.

If ya must know the real truth... I am doing pretty sh*tty.
Awww Joonie Im sorry everything has turned to sh*te! I started reading this thread and was so happy for you, all seemed to be going so well then I got to this page.
I expect tomorrow will be a wonderful day...you just wait!

Huggles sent to you.....Lyn  xxx
