Hi! My Ra Dr. prerscibed Voltaren Gel to help with my knee pain. Has anybody here tried this? Thanks for any replies...works well for meIt did not help me but I have achille tendonitis and plantar fascitis. Try it, you may have better luck than me.Is it a prescription? Yes it is a prescription..It didn't do anything for me, hope it helps you though.I used it a few years ago and found it very soothing. Unfortunately I had the Voltarin side-effects so couldn't continue with it. Just started using it -- and I think it's pretty good stuff. I use it on my back, knees and hands. While not a cure-all - it does help greatly in taking edge away on pain.I have used it and you can buy it over the counter here in Aus, I don't find it helps on its own but with all my other emergency procedures in place, heat, tramal, Oxycontin etc etc, then it kinda helps, hugs Janie.Sounds good but haven't tried it.Ask your doctor for a sample -- he/she may have one. There are also coupons out there for off your co-pay for 6-months -- and that completely covered my co-pay. The do have a website where you can print the coupon at www.GoAheadRubItIn.comI originally got samples from my pain specialist for use on my lower back. It didn't help so much there.

But when the arthritis in my jaw began to hurt so bad I couldn't eat, I decided to try a little on my jaw, just in front of my ear, where the joint is. It did help the pain a bit in the TMJ and also my ear, which also had a sharp pain. At least it helped until I got approval for cortisone injections in my jaw.
It couldn't hurt to try, though. I agree that you should ask your doc for samples. Hopefully it will give you some relief.

I have used Voltarian gel on my achillies tendon area and it didn't help to much but it was in pretty bad shape and I have been bothered by it since last July and I am just getting where I can walk and put weight on it. I read all the other post and it seems that maybe I can be using it on other areas like my hands and knees I guess I will ask my Dr. about it next visit. I hope it will work for you. Laura
