Oh, gosh, Lyndee, you are absolutely right. I actually forgot as I will explain...
Not my birthday here for an hour and a half...it's 10.30pm.
I forgot because I am having my second Rituxan infusion for this round on Thursday 7th May.
This meant that Neve was not going to be here for my birthday as she leaves the day before and goes to stay with one of our local families who are friends of ours. I have to be at the hospital by 7am and often don't get out the other end until 5pm or 6pm. So Neve is gone the night before.
In lieu of this we decided to actually celebrate my birthday on Sunday so Dad and Neve gave me presents then and we went out to lunch at a local place called Bellbird Park Tea House. And, yes, there are actual Bellbirds singing as you eat. I had heard the food was great there and it didn't disappoint. It's also a half hour drive through beautiful countryside almost in the next small town to us. Sunday was a glorious day here and I had such a lovely day with my Dad and my girl.
My friend Susan takes Neve shopping these days to buy presents for me so I had given them a big list. I ended up with a copy of Twlight by Stephanie Meyers which I am dying to read because I heard people here actually talking about it and decided it was a 'must read'. An ornament which is a beautiful green tree frog climbing up a log. I lovely pewter cat keyring...I haven't had a good one for ages and a fabulous floor lamp from Dad which I needed as I read a lot and when my eyes and fingers are okay, I like to do tapestry and some cross stitch. Gosh, I know there was more but I can't think of it right now...
I enjoyed the day and felt extremely blessed to receive such beautiful presents and because my loving Dad and daughter there...it was just perfect.
First birthday without my Mum, who died last September, so there were twinges of sadness mixed in with a great day.
I am finding I am starting to get to know my Dad better now Mum is gone. It's strange but nice. We talk more now directly to each other.
Oh, and gosh, I am 41...better change that on my sig.

Last year was my first birthday without my dad. I had a good family celebration but still, I realized now he will no longer be buying me little dog figurines for "our" collection that he started me on as a child. I spent time at "our" special cabinet for them, remembering those times we spent deciding which one to buy. This January, it was easier.
Do at least one thing, just for you, today. Read a book, go outside and feed birds, sew something fun, ...whatever!
